We haven't found out a bullet proof strategy yet (doubting this strategy even exists...) but double Soviets seem the way to go: One spams T34/76 (or T34/85s or M4Cs) and the other one supports with SU85s. One player uses T1 (mainly Penals who can get rid of trucks easily with Satchels) and the other one T2 (mainly Maxims for suppressing blobs; dodging Stukas shouldn't be impossible). While one player has Mark Target available to counter KT or JT the other one utilizes a doctrine that has both howitzer and 200 munitions bombing run.
Try lethal pushes as often as you can although it might seem to cause plenty of casualties. Considering the fact though how OKW late game will look like this approach is the less painful one.
Even though I like your idea I think that forward retreat should be completely abolished to stop the grindy nature of 2v2+ games (looking at double OKW especially). You should be indeed punished if you lose engagements, thus map control and not be able to return to the front with full health in half time or less than EFA factions. Forward retreat points promote careless play and do totally not fit CoH2.
Well. It would be nice to have a gameplay based analyse by a strategist.
Because everyone is always complaining about the map quality but there is still no useful feedback a mapper could work with to balance and adjust maps for the game.
I think Westwall is too open and big for a 1v1 map, hard to triple-cap and often ends in a capfest (to be clear about what I dislike most). I will provide you with more detailed feedback in the future though.
La Gleize, both Semois, Bryansk Forest, Minsk Pocket, Road to Kharkov, Angoville and Westwall should be removed without hesitation. Their inherent map design is not beneficial for exciting CoH2 play.
You could argue about the remaining to create a super good map pool like in CoH1 but I think those maps are to start with.
Why are Ettelbrück, Gelsenkirchen, both Moscows, Pripyat Sector, Lisores River and all 1v1/2v2 hybrid maps still in 2v2 map pool either? I feel that a huge purge is necessary to create a map pool with few but decent maps like in CoH1.
