So just breaking it down to damage to one single model is straight up wrong. correct breaking it down to single model damage isnt entirely accurate... due the amount of variables involved it would require measured MTTK ingame as this cannot be adequated simulated through mathematics alone... but a very rough model can be approximated at the very least... Comet's main cannon + WP + nade vs Panther's pintle upgrade....yeah sure, "equal". the comet has 2.5 aoe with its main gun while the panther has 0.5... this means the comet has the same AOE and ROF as a medium such as the T-34-85 which can kill a model in around 1 or 2 shots at range 20-30 depending on the formation of the infantry... this gives it a theoretical "DPS" of 6.5... the panther has a total machinegun DPS of 16.517 and around 11.65 for the comet at range 30... as you can see the total DPS of the pintle+coax is comparable to the main cannon... this doesnt take into account abilities sure but as for nades yes nades are great but using them in a comet means going close enough to get fausted... this means nades for the comet is better used vs team weapons... and WP is good but it also blocks LOS and prevents further shot making it more of a utility tool than a DPS one... granted WP is really good In: COH2 Balance

As I've said, at vet3 ppsh cons are fine, any weapon on vet3 cons is fine, so whatever ppsh needs, its not raw stats. when a unit is fine at vet but sucks outside vet its a sign that its vet bonuses should be moved to unvet... I wouldnt call it a win for grenadiers if that is the winning factor. the real winning factor is cost... even without the riflenade id say 4 man IS are slightly worse than grens... but with the riflenade i think id put my money on grens... It should also be noted that the T-34's GOOD machine gun is actually its hull gun-with over 17dps at out to 10 meters- and not the turret gun. Also, you do get warspeed with the comet, which has a rough parity with blitz in terms of application. 1. the 3 (plus pintle) machineguns of the panther have a combined DPS equal to that of the T-34s combined machineguns though majority of the DPS is with the pintle... sure it has less anti infantry than a T-34 but as youve said before the comet has crap machineguns... the panther`s anti infantry comes from its machineguns while the comet`s is from its main gun... i have no exact MTTK tests but i have a feeling they are at least comparable 2. yeah but removing engine governor breaks the engine after its use... OST have Pgrens and Grens, UKF have IS/(Anvil)RE and now the Assault Officer, OKW have Volks and Obers, USF rifles sort of pull double duty, though the LT and CPT are a bit more "Assaulty" thanks to the Thompson, bit more ambiguous in this case. 7Man cons are very good defensively, and still have oodles of utility. SOV should have both 7man, and another option stock. Im still saying Frontoviki. id like to see frontoviki replace the meme penal battalion unit... ironic that soviets got penals when the original (and most common) user of shtraftbats (and the origin of the term shtraftniki) was always germany... id guess relic had to go into the enemy at the gates meme though huh? Even as USF I struggle to deal with MG42s early game in 2v2 and up. Otherwise they are UP. But they are not even close at being OP. OST vanilla is kinda better than SOV vanilla pretty hard considering the recent buffs ost got to teching and several other stuff like the 7 man nerf the lategame grenadier buff and so on... OST with ostruppen dunk on the soviets soo hard that they just cant do shit OST vanilla is somewhat worse than UKF vanilla cuz OST vanilla is almost 100% reliant on how well you play your sniper earlygame... if you lose your sniper youre gonna have a terrible time against UKF... OST with 5 man plays with UKF on an even playing field... OST vs USF well... lets just say USF is considered the best faction ingame for a good reason... in any case id rate the factions at their maximum/meta state as USF>UKF=OST>OKW>SOV sov takes the cake as the worst faction because your whole gameplan vs OKW revolves around the enemy not using panzerfusiliers... if they do then youre fcked... conscripts will get slaughtered and the M3 wont save you... I think the 4man gren vs 4man IS matchup is close, slightly in the IS favor. The balancing factor is of course IS are also a bit more expensive out of the box. Rifle nades im not sure are much of a factor here since close range is where the grenadiers actually best the IS in dps but you cant use a rifle nade from this range. The advantage of rifle nade vs a unit that needs cover is going to come down more to situation and player skill. the ehh IS in close range end up losing to grens while IS at long range can easily be riflenaded... i dont think its by a lot though but id say its safe to say 4 man grens are a bit better than 4 man IS... Jump back to quoted post2 Nov 2020, 16:11 PMSerrith Even with pintle MG, comet is better than panther in AI due to the main gun and other anti infantry attributes(wp smoke, crew grenades). Panther is better at anti tank naturally. Plus it can take an extra hit and has longer range. I'd say they fairly even in terms of what they bring to the table overall. im pretty sure their MTTK vs infantry is comparable since the pintle does do alot of damage (equal to the T-34-76s machinegun dps which is alot) but yeah WP smoke and crew grenades do make it easier for comets... though honestly ive only really used crew grenades vs weapon teams... WP smoke is more general purpose for sure... though the panther`s overdrive/combat blitz is also a pretty good general purpose ability aswell... still im inclined to think the panther is a bit better for what it gives and how much it costs... Bunkers are better at suppressing blobs, have no fuel cost, do not require tech, and do not lock the player out of a different unit. i think the bofors is alot more useful than the bunker in teamgames where the bofors can lock down an area for longer time than a bunker... but for 1v1s the bunker is better for sure In: COH2 Balance
