vCoh had the best physics. Ragdolling corpses bouncing off everything was 30% of the fun of the game.
I saw a dude get popped with a tank shot, fly into the air and land on the tank. Then slide down the side as an arty strike came down. Then he flew into the air cartwheeling across the map.
I have no memories of fun like that in Coh2. It is sorely missing.

This would be great for the times when my unit is in green cover but is instantly pinned by MG fire. Quality product would buy again.

...every noob under the sun cries about something being OP rather than reflecting within and realizing that maybe they just aren't that good at the game.
You should not say "arent good at the game". You should maybe say lack knowledge of certain units. Especially since NONE of this information is provided by Relic in the game.
Hopefully something they fix in COH3.

I keep telling you guys RTS players are a special breed of psuedo intellectuals. All they ever want to do is prove how much better they are than everyone else (Self esteem issues?).
They will always argue with anyone over the dumbest points. It is kind of who they are. It is their identity. That is why you see so much flaming and trolling and people complaining about cheese strats etc. "It cant be me I am amazing!"
I keep posting this info here hoping some will read it and grow as humans to be more comfortable with themselves. But then I feel bad for the people around these PIs because arguing on the internet keeps them busy and not bothering anyone around them.

You guys seem to be having so much fun talking about a tank in a video game. While I am blissful in my lack of WW2 knowledge and can just enjoy the game.
Does everyone lose their shit when they play as soviets and land on some French based map??? Or when they see a piano or bath tub in a field because Coh2 seriously lacked useful models?

Recently, I keep seeing mismatches where a team of 2 or maybe even 3 are given a lot more weight. In a perfect world It makes me hope Relic has made an adjustment to boost premades.
In this particular case, maybe they were still calibrating? So they will get matched high?

This is premature since we have not seen MP yet but here are my thoughts:
There needs to be a few different styles of maps for COH3. There are different styles of players. To maximize the player base and make everyone happy we need more map styles.
PVP - Player vs Player
PVP maps need to be a little less cluttered and flow better than campaign style maps. At some point we will get MP alphas and then we can talk more to this style of map. Right now we have no idea of mechanics, army comps, what will be OP, etc.
FL - FUN/LEARNING MAPS
FL maps are designed for new players to get used to PVP while fighting bots. The maps should be a mix of pretty and PVP maps. The mappers can push the boundaries a little more of what should be allowed for balance while adding in lots of eye candy.
Many players play on lowest settings to get maximum FPS, so standard PVP maps should be dumbed down a little. FLs should be used to showcase the new engine and how beautiful maps can be. That is a big draw for many learning players.
CS - COMP STOMP
These maps need choke points. These include your typical CS maps that have 3 bridges like Lyon, Sittard Summer, etc. Some players do not enjoy microing units all over the place but enjoy the setting and the big ticket items like arty and tanks. Choke point maps also force the AI to fight you rather than sneak around behind you capping points.
When I played vCoh and early Coh2 I always enjoyed a long single lane map. An example would be my map THE NARROW. A great feature of this style map is you can make it a 4v4 map. So players have more control of the number of enemies they fight. You can play you and a friend against 4 AI for example. So you get to kill more units that are less aggressive (See AI below).
And similar to FL maps, CS maps could be heavily decorated like this amazing map BUDAPEST or the campaign maps we have seen already.
- PVP maps: These are designed for automatch and should be included of course.
- FL maps: Depending on the engine performance and the map veto system, a few of these can be used for automatch. Many players love pretty maps but there should not be so many that it breaks peoples vetoes and forces top players to play on them.
- CS maps: None of these maps should be used for automatch.
AI UNIT SETTINGS
The Coh system usually has a few levels of AI. Each is basically the same AI but with more resources and less FOW. These are great for prepping people to play PVP.
I would like to see adjustments for comp stomp players. For example you can play against an easy AI that is very passive but you can set that AI to have massive resources. This lets low skill CS players fight lots of units that are not fighting back as much. This way players can adjust the game to how they actually want to play it, rather than be forced to only play a certain way.
For example playing against EASY AI is boring because it makes very few units. Playing against HARD AI is fun because it makes more units, but it sucks because the units fight differently and are more aggressive/back cap more/ etc. Would be great to adjust the skill and number of enemies to your skill level and map style.
This would add another setting to the AI:
- Easy AI: low, mid, high resources
- Normal AI: low, mid, high resources
- Hard AI: low, mid, high resources
- Expert AI: low, mid, high resources
I am assuming that the AI will already be better at fighting than previous versions.
If anyone has ideas about the map or AI styles I can add them to the list.
Thread: Open End Pop cap?15 Jul 2021, 12:27 PM
Another issue with popcap is late game FPS issues. Too many units = low FPS. Imagine a 4v4 with no pop cap and you will see 1-4 FPS all game long.

I just find that a lot of the people are somehow not realizing that the game is in a pre alpha state.
Can I get an amen!!! I keep saying most people who play RTS are one step down on the evolutionary ladder.
Watching the Twitch stream and watching idiots ask the same dumb questions over and over and over.
"I didnt watch anything, I just got here... I demand you answer my dumb question that was answered earlier for some other dummy!"
Some days I really feel sorry for Relic and the Dev team. They have to babysit these droolers all the time. Then you get some weirdo malcontent like me giving them shit for doing dumb stuff
Back on topic:
I thought the art looked fine. But I like to just play the game. I find it weird how many people care about dirt on buildings, or colors, etc....Its a game. Or what skins the units are wearing? Out of 5k hours I may have looked at some skins once... for 2 seconds... then back to playing...
I am pretty sure Nintendo WII made a lot of money by dumbing down the graphics.
And I remember the first 6 times I played coh2 after years of vCoh and I hated it. But by game 20-30 I could never dream of playing vCoh ever again. Coh2 is so much better. But people are seeing Single Player for 10 minutes and already saying "Booo Coh3 sucks Booooo". You have not even seen MP yet???? WTF are you booing?
I also appreciate the new texture blending/rendering modes. So I enjoy the added resolution/clarity/oolors/etc.

I was not invited at any point
"Oh you are a mapper right so you can just shut the f&^k up and sit down. And keep making free stuff for us."
Seriously though I would not have ANY usable info on single player. Never played it. Never will. Why would you???
Now when MP hits and there are maps that need looked at, thats when I would possibly have some comments.
But I find it hard to believe you (WF) were not part of the team. You map and have spent time thinking about what should be in COH3? Maybe they read your stuff and didnt need your opinion since they already had all the info?
I find it hysterical that I start my RTS and a few of the things I came up with are in Coh3 Maybe I should have been on the team???
