Thread: CoH2 vs CoH3 Battlegroups MTX7 Feb 2023, 05:53 AM I came to Coh2 later in its life. I missed any early debacles with OP commanders. So I see the method of purchasing items with supply or real money the best way forward. As long as it is easily obtainable. For example: You cant price a great commander/Battlegroup so high it takes forever to get it with supply. As you are getting stomped in automatch because of it. That will kill the game. Are there other games out there that have the return on your time like Coh/Coh2? Do people play LoL, Dota, CS:GO for 1000's of hours??? I almost feel I should buy Coh3 just to pay Relic for the 5k hours I have in Coh2. I surely got back the small amount of cash I paid for it. Oh that's right, they actually owe me $1000's of dollars for sitting in Queue trying to get a playable game for all those years... you lazy cucks. Having things you can purchase for real money seems fine for the people who will be playing for years and years. They may want to support the studio. And for the donkeys that just have to have the "cool" skins on their tanks, etc. In: COH3 Central

Thread: How exactly does leaderboard ranks work?31 Jan 2023, 06:37 AM Each game is worth some amount of ELO or rank. It is based off your opponents rank. If you lose to low rank people, you will lose a lot of ELO/Rank. There is a fixed amount you can win/lose at each level. People in the top 100 do not gain or lose much rank. People in the lower tiers can lose 100 - 300 rank in a single game. Your best bet is to get the Desktop app from Coh2Stats.com where you are posting this image from. That will tell you everyone ranks. Then you will understand what is happening from game to game. So my guess is your are barely getting to Level 11. Lose a game and you are back down into Level 10. If you are not paying attention, people sometimes drop a game or two and forget. Then they see their rank drop a ton later because those games you left were still going on and finished later. But it was a decent counter to static defensive play as OKW in larger game modes. The constant pressure with a late ISG could break the back of defensive lines. USF had early mortars that should be utilized before it got too bad. So I could see a case with them not having forward retreats. But outside of 4v4 in Coh2, I do not see where forward retreats need to exist. I Could live without them. In: COH3 Central
Thread: Tech test Design feedback28 Jan 2023, 17:47 PM Forward reinforcing is a strange beast. For noobs, it means putting all of your units in a pile waiting to be bombed to death. So it both helps and hurts noobs. For pros, it means constantly pushing into the enemy and falling back until you break them. Ala Aerafields OKW strat, etc. So it adds depth to your attack strats and also requires some micro to keep your army alive. It is also a counter to mortar/arty fights in larger game modes. I have won many 4v4 MAD matches because of reinforcing. I am a big fan of not mass retreating your whole army. Every map I make, I ensure open areas that you can fall back to and reinforce. We spent a lot of time on map patches adding these features also. Hamburg was one that we moved a lot of objects to open up areas for reinforcing. For Coh3 and smaller mode, you could design maps that DO NOT have open areas just outside the main fighting areas to counter reinforcing. You could add medium destruct cover objects to limit the mobility of reinforcing vehicles for example. In: COH3 Central

Thread: CoH3 faster VP tick rate25 Jan 2023, 19:17 PM Who actually pays the bills at Relic? Casuals. Why do casuals play Coh? To get giant tanks and see how many kills their arty pieces get. This should be Relics prime focus. Secondary focus should be 1v1 tournaments to get eyes on the game. But even the biggest tourney only had about 2000 viewers versus the 200,000+ that will be playing Coh2 to get big tanks and kill counts. Relic needs to focus on the exhilaration of ending a massive battle and checking out how your units did. That is the essence of sales. Casuals do not want to play chess and could care less about the minute details of balance. EDIT: If I was head of marketing I would make a video of some massive battle with a team of people playing. And alternate between explosive kill shots and people screaming "WHOA DUDE! That was awesome!!!". Intercut with a close up of someone wearing a headset and a radio voice screaming "Oh man thats a big tank! Its a Tiger! Its a King Tiger!" End it with "Company of Heroes 3! Thread: 3 minutes 221 is obscene23 Jan 2023, 12:13 PM The 221 is almost required in 4v4. OKW gets stomped into the dirt by Brits. They have great infantry that arrive fast, MGs, and the UC. You have NO COUNTER AT ALL for MGs and the UC. You need a counter to the Soviets clown car and sniper. Again as OKW you have none. You can either make every faction the same (boring) or deal with some slightly annoying units. It is that simple. In: COH2 Balance
