I have not played Coh3 yet (probably never will). But in the map editor I noticed they are calculating the FOW based on terrain height. Thought I should post some pics for people in case it is not obvious in game and your units are getting merc'ed while they sit idle.

I have positioned the UNIT VISION to be on the PINK dot. You can see that the FOW is very small looking up the ramp of the driveway.

This is not the case for people on higher ground. They will have visibilty all over the lower terrain. So there may be cases where you are getting shot but can't see the enemy.

I have no idea how it is calculated in game. Does unit height matter? Maybe in the editor it is calc'ed from the ground position so it is smaller? Dont know, dont care. Good luck.

Someone had a question about Coh3 mapping I thought I should look at and.... well... the editor runs so bad on my PC I couldn't even try to look at the problem. It says I am getting 45-55 FPS but it is completely unusable.

So that may be the answer as to why there are not enough maps.

It runs ok when you start a map. But once you get a bunch of stuff on the map it is dead in the water. Click something and go get a drink. You may get control back in 3-5 seconds. All the while it says 45 FPS.

The COH2 editor runs 1000x better on my PC.

They dumbed down the graphics on the game so it was faster and went the other way with the editor. It barely runs.

There are a lot of people making maps and they dont seem to have any issues. But their maps may not be complex enough yet??? Or there is some simple thing wrong with my PC. CPU and GPU are floating 25% and RAM is at 7.5GB. Nothing spectacularly being pushed.

On a side note: I hate the new editor. It is not even close to being as good as the Coh2 editor. But I think after you use it for 100 hours it may have some pluses. Just my single data point and personal opinion.

Not that it matters I will never map for Coh3 anyway. But I did want to help out others when possible. Nope, cant do it.

It will be when the multiplayer layer is release. Coh3 is a single player game with some extra multiplayer content atm. Relic stated it before launch.

I dont know how to break it to ya bud, but it does not say shit anywhere on the Steam page for Coh3 that it will be wet swamp ass for multiplayer and its focus is single player.

To go back to the OP, you know what is infuriating? Watching relic crap out a turd and watching people who I thought were intelligent eat it whole and beg for more.

As ex-dev(designer to be specific), yeah, and its missing largest misconception ever since steam chart exists.

Daily concurrency =! active players.
Daily concurrency is just that, how many players logged into the game at specific day and how was the peak.
Real metric of player activity is being measured at weekly and monthly retention, because only and exclusively the most hardcore of players play the exact same game on a daily basis.

Daily concurrency dropoff in 2 months post release is normal, anything higher then 90% is "ded gaem", anything between 90 and 70% is regular drop and if daily concurrency retains more then 30% after two months, its jackpot only a handful of games can show.

Bigger indicator then daily peaks is how many players come online during time when new content patches are deployed, because both hardcore and casual, less frequently playing players want to check them out within first couple of days of release and even that is not always true, hence MAU chart, which we have no access to what so ever is the only accurate one for estimating active playerbase.

None of your post means jack shit to someone who is currently in queue looking for a game. This game is dead. No matter how you spin it or try to cope. It is dead. Relic failed. Again. As predicted.

Matching current Coh2 numbers is NOT a success. You are all left to garbage match making again. Coh3 is just a Coh2 turd with some water sprinkled on it to make it seem fresh.

In 6 months or a year, there may be more players. But will it be the number of players there could have been if this release was not a complete joke?

I actually like the large ground artillery type explosions in Coh3. Coh2 explosions had a "person jumping in a pool" type effect that I liked but not sure how realistic it was. Coh3 seems much closer to actual artillery explosions.

The rest I have not even noticed if they differ much. So I have no vote.

I bring up, is it possible the new explosions are closer to real life? The art team seems to have really worked hard on the in-game effects, textures, etc. The UI team seems to have been non-existent. May have been the same people and they focused entirely on in-game 3D stuffs.
