Between PAKs, P4s, tellers, and fausts, the Ostheer have plenty of ways to deal with enemy tanks in 1v1. I pretty much never upgrade my Pgrens with shrecks. I like their AI much more. In team games, Elephants are fully viable with a teammate being able to cover your weaknesses in mobility. Don't mess with an Elephant. |
You will eventually get a sense of when players are likely to throw a grenade. If you see your troops are in nade range and bunched up, expect one. If it's a fight I can focus on, I like to bait the nade and dodge it in order to waste their munitions.
More important to your question, you need to look for the animation of the squad member throwing the grenade, and not wait until the countdown appears or the rifle nade being in the air. |
we play axis because tanks are cooler and we like bigger challenge

Good work napalm! I will continue to wait peacefully. |
Just as with CoH2, I'm sure most of the Rome people usually just play the grand campaign (or with CoH2, compstomps and single player). I have owned and played 5 Total War games and in all these years I've only played a few LAN battles with my brothers. Total War is all about the Grand Campaign as far as I'm concerned. |
Sounds like to some people it is a crime (or even just noteworthy?) to see someone play anything besides CoH2? CoH2 is a game that I am "always playing" in that I play a game or two most days of the week, but in the rest of my gaming time I have a "main game" such as Skyrim or LA Noire or whatever game in my collection has my interest at the moment.
I like CoH2 a lot and love the competition, but if I had to play it as my only game for hours a day, I don't think my nerves would hold up. |
I see P4s all the time. I use P4s all the time. As said, it just takes some combined arms action. You talk about how the allies have all of these things backing up their medium armor. So does the Axis. You have to wisely clear their infantry screen, just like they are trying to do to you. A good faust and a sweep around with a P4 or a PAK works wonders. |
Nebaka, I vote yes. On topic, of course it should cost fuel. It has a free barrage ability and can be a decent support for your AT guns and other support weapons. It's not great, it needs some tweaks, but not making it fuel-free. |
A pgren squad with shrecks are definitely a 'soft' counter to tanks. They aren't generally going to, nor should they, go face to face with any medium tank and win. They provide some good extra damage and are great in a flank or ambush situation. They are a counter to light vehicles, sure. Pgrens are in a good spot right now. |
Thanks Sierra, I needed a morning laugh. But seriously, who let this guy come back? |
