You still cannot use mediums to push through lines since every meta right now seems to be spam ATGs and also the design choice to make mediums three shot die from a 340mp gun was arguable at best. At any rate, medium tanks in this version of coh2 I think are shit.
Sturmtiger was never never never as op as people here claim to be. Sure it could wipe from fow, but let's be honest it was a one shot very expensive shitcan. It's just that 95% of people here blob their way to victory and since ST was a natural antiblobbing tool they cope.

There were many super busted things, especially when something new was released. I can remember when snares would always give an engine crit regardless of the target's health (so you could never really push with tanks lol). Then they introduced these broken commanders, elite (which gave you the ability to make your Gren squad or mortar squad vet 3 with one click, or just boost your Pwerfer straight into vet 2 without having shot once; ah yes, and the Tiger Ace of course hehe). You also had Soviet Windustry, where your T70 would come at such a ridiculous timing (4 mins iirc), if you didn't get it with a lucky teller, the game was over lol.
As for the most busted unit in the history of CoH2? Well, that is debatable I guess. The old ISU that didn't need to switch ammunition and had self-spotting was probably the most busted thing we ever saw. Honorable mentions would be the old JT that would shoot through buildings (the only real counter to the ISU lol), basically everything when OKW or Brits came out (Volk schreck blobs, Obers with insta-lmg, Sections that were just as good without cover but unbeatable with cover, unkillable Churchills, unbeatable Comets, etc.). Sturmtiger in the last patch was also insanely busted and right now, it's probably the KT with spearhead and tank commander.
STurmtiger was never as bad as this forum claims to have been, and never was "the gold standard" of unbalancing.
It was just intimidating because 95% people here play only with superupgraded blobs and 0 depth strategy. Then sure, Sturmtiger can wreck you badly. Other than that, it's a literal case mate which can only shoot once and then it must reload for 30+ secs. 1 Medium tank, 1 ATG + 2 snares is all it takes to go down the gutter. Also, its cost makes you skip the P4J, which many times is wrong.
And to further prove my point: what did balance team did to """fix""" Sturmtiger? They made it just a tad costlier and moved it a tad in CP (so as to give the allies some time to get an ATG I suppose) and also disallowed it to upgrade and throw gren. Not a single stat change.
You know that the Sturmtiger dominated the game a few months back? Like you would literally win every game when you had it in the game and didn't completely suck? You could fire out of the fog of war, it had a stupid one-click infantry counter, ez self-repair and was nearly unkillable while only costing 165 fuel?
UKF infantry is good, but inadequate to carry the faction.
UKF is pretty much a meme at this point and a bad one at that. Idiotic teching, the emplacements have been nerfed. It's quite literally unplayable.
You need to spend 250mp and 50fuel (iirc) to have a fifth man, and 90muni in order to have decent firepower. AEC is way too underwhelming to take it seriously, and you can only play that faction if and only if you have 3 specific commanders to support you. Also, good luck playing with no snares on mainline infantry.
Cromwell? Pff, the other guys have Panzer IVs. Centaur AA? Good if the enemy blobs, shit in every other scenario. Churchill? Kinda nice, but way too costly for what it gives.
You are left with only Firefly which is excellent and Comet which is also excellent. If you go Royal Engies and get the British Sturmtiger it's nice.
TLDR; UKF infantry is fine, but the faction in general is in disarray.
This is the problem imo. You need to invest so much just to get them to a state close to Grens with LMGs or Volks. You need bolster, you need to tech grenades and weapon racks. And the Wehr player? Well, he has to press lmb once and invest 60 ammo and is just as competitive as you with your enormous investment. Additionally, he gets rifle nades for free and has a Pfaust, which Tommies don't have at all.
It doesn't pin, it doesn't kill, it doesn't set up fast, it does not have a large cone, it is not cheap and it has no high durability, it hasn't got a good ability. Yea, the Maxim is totally worth it lololol
Grens are totally overtuned atm, imo. In the beginning of the match, they are on par with most infantry except maybe penals, but when they get their MG, they are basically unstoppable with only 60 mun investment. And they have rifle nades, too.
The real bullshit imo is that the only real counter to gren blobs, rocket arty, is also not really effective against them because of their received fire buff, which makes them extremely hard too kill. Combined with MG42 and the best crew weapons in general, this is just really dumb.
I agree, I would rather have both of these units being meme units without real value (like the old ST) rather than absolute wiping one-click monsters. I don't believe that there will ever be a middle ground, it will always be one of the two options, but these units don't fit the game at all. So yeah, screw them both.

Because it had decrew mechanic it had ridiculous veterancy bonuses and shorter then AVRE (I assume) reload time.
Because nobody picked it, balance team allowed it to be build with KT.
All those downsides were removed, but non of the upsides were reconsidered, that were introduced to balance up the downsides.
I think balance team needs too look at the AVRE and Sturmtiger more closely, because those are the least fun units to play against, without an obvious weaknesses.
AVRE needs a nerf and ST needs a further nerf. Screw those units.
