Starting fuel is completely independent from starting menpower, because that starting fuel dictates tech pace and is set separately to menpower, which OKW, Ost and UKF start with more then others, because reasons. Currently OKW has a very strong early field presence, but their light vehicle timings are pretty slow. This makes them reliant on getting a map control advantage early on to make up the difference and makes them very vulnerable to builds that can match this infantry presence as they can't punish them in the same way Ostheer could with a FHT rush. Current minimum fuel for each light vehicle: M20 Utility Car: 65 222 Scout Car: 70 251 Flamer Halftrack: 70 AEC: 85 AAHT: 85 251 Flak: 90 Stuart: 105 Luchs: 115 Puma: 125 It'd change to this: M20 Utility Car: 65 222 Scout Car: 70 251 Flamer Halftrack: 70 251 Flak: 75 AEC: 85 AAHT: 85 Luchs: 100 Stuart: 105 Puma: 110 After thinking a lot about the ramifications of this, I think it'd be an improvement. OKW no longer has an oppressive early game, and it no longer gets its back snapped by builds that out-infantry spam it (hello UKF Bolster opening). It becomes much more manageable in the first few minutes, but demands the swift construction of an AT counter, limiting the enemy's ability to spam infantry in turn. Worth experimenting with in the next patch? In: COH2 Balance

Oh, and soviets never had less menpower when they had that 50 fuel at start. So stop repeating that bullshit. It is true that they have 15 fewer FU and 100 more MP though. I wonder what the consequences of standardising their starting resources would be? You'd have a weaker early game, but all the vehicles would hit 15 FU faster. The Flak HT would hit at 75 FU (about the same time as an Ostheer light vehicle) and the Luchs would hit a hair sooner than the Stuart. I think it might be an improvement to the balance of the various matchups. In: COH2 Balance

MP-40 volks have a good chance to lose to most SMG allied infantry. So don't 1v1 them. I'd expect a 280 MP 70 MP Cavalry Rifleman squad to have the edge over a 250 MP 45 FU Volks squad, just like I'd expect an Obersoldaten squad to have the edge over a single M1919 Rifleman squad. Feuersturm is bad relative to on-meta commanders because two of its abilities are very situational, one is absolute trash, and the Flame Hetzer has poor synergy with the current OKW faction design. The Assault Packages ability in isolation is pretty solid. In: Lobby

This Armour upgrade for Osteehr infantry will most definitely deal with the issues that everyone experiences when playing Osteehr, survivability. To take less overall damage will surely make a difference. That I am certain of! Grenadiers don't have survivability issues versus small arms. They have survivability issues vs AoE weapons while clumped behind cover. That's because, as a four man squad, they clump together tighter. This is an advantage versus accuracy based weapons because you can fit them all behind cover. The drawback is it's also easier to fit the whole squad into the lethal AoE radius of a tank, grenade or mortar. Armour won't do shit against that because it's not going to bounce a tank shell. I think it provided smoke but replaced firenade with a normal nade which was a downside. The MP40 overall restricted you from maintaining aggression and engaging longer ranges. So there were more cons than pros and that is why it was hardly used. It's hardly used because it's in the Feuersturm doctrine, and OKW's metagame is almost exclusively Special Operations with a smattering of Overwatch and Elite Armour. In: Lobby

I only use it in a combat role in emergencies, it just isn't worth it otherwise. That's because it comes out extremely late in the Soviet faction design. UKF can get it out as fast as an Ostheer 250.
