Conscripts are not fine. They are very bad in dealing damage, specially in late. And no, they have nothing I need. AT nade is bad, Faust is 10 times better, anti-garrison nade is worst grenade in game, flare mines nobody use, really, cheap pirce should not be excuse of uselessness of unit, close combat is poor because of lowest rate of fire in game. So yes, Im still complaining.
Other options? Which are? Penals - unit with no purpouse, just a little better than Cons. And doctrinal infantry can't change mainlines.
Whilst I agree completely that Conscripts suck, so much of SU core units suck that at this point I just accept that SU "uniqueness" is their complete reliance on doctrines - not just for good viable tanks but also for mainline infantry (guards and jesus troops), using conscripts to merge to cut down on mp drain.
This may or may not be as Relic intended, but in all fairness doctrinal infantry can absolutely replace conscripts as mainline infantry for SU.
The Alpha may be over but that doesn't mean they'll be releasing the changes any time soon. Also, what new commanders?
There's at least one more Soviet T34 commander that's in the works (a few threads already on this). I think there's another too but I can't remember which faction.
Stacking bulletins is kinda necessary given the relatively small improvements each one gives. I for one am hoping that if they remove stacking then they'll have another look at increasing bulletins across the board.
Don't forget that a 3% increase can still make an impact though if the base value is high enough - 3 x 3% Ostheer panther armour is enough for it to bounce AT gun shots semi-reliably, I find. On the other hand the % armour increase for light vehicles is never enough for it to make a difference since their armour is so low to begin with anyway.
I wish you could have multiple Ardennes campaign rewards - 15% range increase on bazookas would be pretty good
if it helps you, it was due to same reason why they remove it from Rifle company.
This game is all about keeping alive your squads....an ability that allows you to get a fresh green squad, get them to vet 3 through ability so you can replace your whiped vetted squads in late game is not a good thing in a game where preservation is a key aspect of the game...
Same way, fresh vet1-vet2 rifles in the early game at a cost of only 20 mp more than stock rifles is not a good thing...
That does help, thanks.
But to me the solution of removing it from the game is a lazy one that reduces game variety. There were other, better solutions (cost increase, timer cooldown, etc.) they could have tried but they couldn't bothered to test them despite having a really active community that would love the chance to help out. Same with ColdTech and removing blizzards entirely. Same with the different vehicle criticals. Same with Soviet Industry.
And now some people clearly want the Tiger Ace (the "best" tank(!)) removed as well. Do you not feel that this incessant whining for removing unique features or units (or nerfing them into the ground) is making the gameplay much more bland?
Indeed i do, the double 5% suppresion bulletins make for a lovely 10% increase in suppresion (remember the old 10% mg42 suppresion bulletin? thats right it got removed for being OP).
But would you say that's an acceptable reason for a maxim to win vs a pre-set-up mg42 (even without superior cover?)
Im genuinely curious as to the answer for that.
Personally I think so. I like bulletins making a significant impact on gameplay, tactics and how your opponent responds. It increases the versatility of all armies.
I haven't really seen that many triple bulletins making a real difference (triple armour on Ostheer panther is also quite nice), but I think this feature leads to better competitive play. Players can see in the loading screen which commanders and which bulletins are being used by their opponent and it's up to them to respond accordingly.
The best things about bulletins is that you can't buy them, only earned from RNGesus drops. It's not Play2Win, it's Pray2Win.
If they fixed stormtroopers to spawn with mp44s then it wouldn't be so bad, but atm they are trash in this doctrine. Still can't see why they removed the vet ability other than whining babies on the forums.
I love the Ostheer vet 5 idea. I mean, it could very well be hilariously broken - vet5 mg42s, vet 5 panzerwerfer, vet 5 sniper (he gets a 16x scoped mg42)...
But Elite troops definitely needs something veterency related - or at least change the friggin' commander description!
Just to add in something I haven't seen mentioned yet - that maxim has (what seems to be) two accuracy bulletins and a rate of fire bulletin, whereas the mg42 has no bulletins.
All the talk about crawling through yellow cover / models outside of green cover aside - this isn't really a fair test, I'd expect the maxim to win with a triple bulletin buff.
We need the official forums back for those people to go back to. They were like a midway between this glorious pinnacle of CoH achievement and the cancerous cess-pit of the steam forums
