As others have said they are at their best when used somewhat defensively to protect cut-offs or a corner fuel point from being ninja-capped by an enemy infantry unit.
I also played one of my friends once on crossing in the wood, where as the northern player he placed the figtting position on his side of the bridge so the mg was covering both the bridge and the crossing on the right side. This meant that none of my infantry could cap the center vp or flank it from the side closest to my base. He also supported it with an at gun and mines, which didn't exactly make my lige any easier.
Eventually I brought it down and defeated him, but he certainly got his money's worth with that one.

I can't believe I forgot to mention LeFH Just one of those is arguably the best chemotherapy for emplacement spams (provided you can wait until 8 CP) and once that's done most 1v1 maps are of a size that makes it possible to bombard the base where you estimate his units routing |
Thread: Should I get UKF Mortars & How to Counter Blobs? [Team]20 Jun 2017, 06:58 AM
The advantage of any mortar is that it punishes any nearby stationary infantry and requires a minimum of micro effort from the owner. Emplacements have the advantage of also being somewhat sturdy and can resist attacks for a decent amount of time before being destroyed. Your story sounds like you were incredibly unlucky because Ost mortar crews are not a very safe or reliable way of destroying emplacements. Speaking from a 1v1 perspective I tend to hold of emplacements until the mid game and only provided that I am not significantly behind my opponent in terms of fielded units. Often there is a period of floating manpower before having enough fuel for mediums which is well invested into an emplacement. Ideally this should be somewhat defensive but still cover at least one VP and vital ressource point (fuel or munitions). Often this will not have a huge direct impact in terms of damage, but the psychological effect is quite significant and the opponent will often either try to charge it (and hit my defensive mines), avoid the area and let me focus elsewhere or keep shuffling their units around meaning that they fight less effeciently. In a 2v2 you might consider only one of you getting an emplacement, or place them in very different areas of the map to cover more ground, and then focus on keeping them covered. I wouldn't put too much stress into Ostheer mortars. ISGs are a whole other matter however. They need to be charged, sniped or put down with grenades from cloaked commandos In: UKF Strategies |

Note. not at home, so haven't watched your replay. I hope that you will still alow me my two cents I am generally a patient man, but I don't have much love for people spamming emplacements and the adv. emplacement commander simply has too many things building, reenforcing and reparing its emplacements. It's not that it is unbeatable, it just makes the game a slow and unfunny drag Having said that Whermacht has more options for handling emplacement spam than their OKW brothers, who are more or less stuck with ISGs. First you have to avoid any areas with bofors emplacements and focus your energy on other areas. Building the bofors means that you can outgun your opponent anywhere else on the map. Once you tech up and accrue a few CP some options open up for handeling the emplacements. Doctrinal options. - Mortar HT can pepper the emplacements from afar and have the incindary shells which will kill anything that tries to repair it. They do however take quite a while to finish the job if the opponent braces and repairs outside the flame attacks. - Spotting scopes and stugs will make them spot and outrange the bofors and make short work of them regardless of brace and repair. -Railway artillery will take away huge swaths of health from the bofors and wipe anything nearby. any tanks or well times rockets/bundle grenades should be enough to finish them. Non-doctrinal options. - Snipers with hold fire can do an excellent job of spotting for your AT guns and Stugs, as well as anything else that outranges the bofors. once you have mediums and LOS the bofors becomes more or less redundant. - if the opponent makes the mistake of building the bofors near a shot blocker a Flame ht will make veery short work of it with the attack ground option. Just remember that even a slight miscalculation revealing your ht will make the bofors end its exsistence in a single burst. Also shot blockers like walls and trees can sometimes be destroyed by the bofors attack ground, so permanent blockers like buildings and thick woods are a better solution. - In a pinch it is always possible to use tanks and at guns to attack ground at the bofors into the FoW, but this is an inconsistent and long process if you are fighting fortified emplacements with repair options. I hope these tips will help you make short work of sim city builders and move on to more interesting and diverse matches Edit: to your last question the bofors does not get more penetration with veterancy and to my knowledge hasn't got more pen in any patches that I recall. The vet bonii are as follows: vet 1 - +50% rotation,+50% rotation speed vet 2 - +20% Sight Vet 3 - +50% health Source: https://www.coh2.org/guides/29892/the-company-of-heroes-2-veterancy-guide |

Sorry about that. I didn't necessarily need feedback on this one, it was more a praise for the good advice I got in here so I didn't want to spam the thread But if those are the rules, then I will of course abide In: Replay Reviews |

to fight mg's in buildings you need the UC with a flamer. Good point Dreamer. Though on this particular map, mgs in buildings are not the main issue Thx for posting the feedback here Strum. I found it in the replay section, but I appreciate you taking the time to post it here as well For future reference did I post this the right way but first uploading into the replay section and then posting the URL in this thread?
