There is no USSR, but come on! This game has "Normandy 44" in the name! ~~How can you imagine USSR tanks rushing Normandy beach?~~ Though, we would have to wait until we get some gameplay come out, because Eugen Systems also have their team games and those are plenty of levels higher than what an average 4v4 match of Company of Heroes could drum up. I am not sure that this strategy is viable in the current meta, but I have stopped a blob of infantry with two-three squads armed with LMGs a few months after the volley fire was nerfed. The LMG sort of boosts the ability to actually suppress units. Though, I highly doubt that anyone would do that since riflemen with double BARs tend to be much more effective and that most USF players just slap a few Bazookas to the REs. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Smoke barrage, when and where?6 Feb 2017, 20:47 PM Oddly enough, I do remember a time when I decided to smoke out the front of a building because there was an MG in the church. As a guy who loves using smoke abilities, I can put some input. For me, I like to use it as a sight blocker for MGs. However, here is the twist for it. I deploy it on the unit itself or on the building itself. I'm closing the distance as my opponent is forced to redeploy to get away from the smoke. Plus, throwing grenades through smoke can be effective sometimes when an MG crew is packing up. I can't say for the Ostheer since I primarily use smoke barrage as the USF and like to play around with the Pershing commander most of the time. In: Ostheer Strategies
Thread: How can USF deal with structures?19 Jan 2017, 01:50 AM If you are met with bunkers, I suggest that you try out Armor Company just like Planet Smasher has. However, I've managed to do it once in a 1v1 match, but use your rear echelons as meatshields for the indirect weapons such as the mortar or the pack howitzer. They'll give you enough sight for the teams to land shots on the bunkers or structures without dealing with the fog of war penalty. If you want a precise shots from mortars or pack howitzers, I suggest that you try to use the barrage ability to have them focus on the structures. Here is a warning though, keep those weapon teams defended if they're going to expose themselves. If it's against the Ostheer, they will probably send in a 222 to deal with them before your units retreat or arrive to save the day. In: US Forces Strategies
Thread: The Churchill could do with a buff.15 Jan 2017, 21:54 PM The tone down it down guys. As for why Churchills are overshadowed by Comets, it's because the Comets have better use. Allow me to point out the positives. Comet: 1) Has a better accuracy on the move than the Panther. 2) Has a better potential to penetrate German armor. 3) At Vet 2, the drivers automatically toss out grenades if the tanks don't use the hold fire. 4) Worth its weight in fuel and manpower. 5) Has indirect benefits such as the "War Speed" if the British players make use of it. 6) Has the ability of shooting White Phosphorous at units. 7) Has ability to throw nuke nades. Churchill: 1) High Health Pool 2) At Vet 2, the crew opens their hatches and shoots from them. 3) Creates a smoke screen, but at the cost of being slow. 4) Has ability to throw nuke nades. So you see the issue, the Comet has more positive benefits than the Churchill. Another problem the Chuchill faces is that it is a slow lumbering tank that is really just there as a punching bag for StuGs, Panthers, Tigers, Jagdpanzers, etc. Whereas the Comet can easily make a hit and run on German units and have a better chance at returning. I almost forgot to mention that it has a better gun than the Churchill and can act as a shield for Fireflies from behind. In: COH2 Balance

They can heal other units, but they can't heal themselves. Even if this option is available for the Wehrmacht player, the situation must be desperate for them to use it and even then, most Wehrmacht players forget about it because they can retreat their units back to base and heal their units for free via bunker. They're good as durable meatshields for units like Guards, for rushing a tank with AT nades, or screening for snipers. Giving them a buff might make them a bit OP, but with Relic they might end up OP. Plus, they already have the utility of making cover, despite being outclassed by British trenches and WFA sandbags, and putting down tripwire flares for alerting the Soviet players. It's good enough that they have doctrinal upgrades that improves their combat role and that it is in multiple commanders aside from the PTRS upgrade. Though, I do think they deserve some kind of global upgrade to the SVTs if the Soviet player has the time and resources to build all of the tech buildings. However, the problem with this idea is that it overshadows Penal troops in some ways and might end up as Soviet Riflemen. In: COH2 Balance
