OKW has the 200mm rocket barrage which costs almost double, does less damage, comes in 8 seconds late and has a tiny area of effect. Makes no sense to give USF such powerful offmaps My favourite nonsensical off map is railway arty. Just expensive and of extremely limited use. In: COH2 Balance

The timing should be such that M36 could arrive close to Tiger arrival. That would allow more breathing room for medium tanks and would help determine if M36 needs to be so effective vs mediums. 2 stages of major tech - a very good idea In: COH2 Balance

The major brings a mobile version of certain abilities but having those abilities is a core part of USF balance. What the army lacks elsewhere is compensated for with tech paced unlocks. You could remove the squad if you wanted - but the features the major brings cant be so easily denied. Having them tied to the major is a relative weakness when the alternative is to give them to the base buildings, and the faction is better for it AKA brits are still bad design. Sodding base howitzers. Every single patch has been slowly phasing those monstrosities out. Major arty is that feature, only done well. Major is a good unit that grants you off map barrage and recon plus retreat point without any doctrine. It is far from being disingenuous. USF need doctrine callipe but it is offset by pack howie and Scott which are best indirect fire units in game. Major is just another 'free' unit which is just great to have. If you had to pay for it, it would be another story. Remember also that if you destroy a building you can't produce units and you must rebuild it. You don't need to repurchase a major if you lose it to build tanks. In: Lobby

Its mostly because the other units in the same faction that sinergises or counterweighs such units. OKW and USF have cost effective but not efficient units. SU has some good cost efficient ones. OST is in the middle, so does UKF What is important is that players often complain about a unit but forget how expensive it is and how much tech it requires. And the other way around - they use a cheap unit and expect it to be greater than sometimes significantly more expensive units. What You write is true to some extend but generally blurs the picture and sort of means that any rational arguments should be disregarded. In: COH2 Balance

My favourite example here was M20. Mg range, extra armour, crew, smoke, crit repairs, standard repairs, better version of a teller. All on one unit. Now, after years of debating, free! bazooka was finally removed. Coming back to major. A free squad with a lot of cool and powerful abilities and still some players would like it to be better.
