By the way the problem I described is exactly this: how to capture and hold a point guarded by a Bofors and its support? So suggesting I ignore the Bofors, while strategically sound, is not the answer to the problem. TBH other than double LeIGs (which is slow and vulnerable to counter-battery fire) I don't think there's actually a cost-effective method of destroying a British SimCity once it's up. I'm not saying it can't be done, just that you're probably going to have to expend significantly more resources to destroy the SimCity than the British player is going to have to expend to defend it (Bofors emplacements and Royal Engineers are both cheap). So that's really why I suggested the base attack - and if the British player puts too much population into emplacements, it is a viable strategy (more as Ostheer imo, cause their tanks are cheaper, but still). Only other thing I can think of is trolling around with the Sturmtiger. Sturmtiger's very good against SimCities. Oh yeah, and the LeFH. In: OKW Strategies

Thread: Man there's some terrible 4v4 maps out there...6 Oct 2016, 01:53 AM La Gleize and Essen Steelworks are the only 4v4 maps I think are actually decent. Rest are either mediocre or just plain awful. I mean: Lienne Forest - Fuels non-contestable. Forest area is badly designed. Lorch Assault - Five VPs, almost completely urban, silly castle thing at the bottom. Vielsalm - Landmines. Port of Hamburg - Limited flanking options. Encourages building rushes. Steppes - Benefits factions with FRPs. Strongly favours Axis if they survive the first fifteen minutes. Hill 400 - Watchtowers. Lanzerath Ambush - Strongly favours northern side. Hill 331 - Terrible resource layout, hedges and hills cause bad retreat paths. Montargis Region - Five VPs. Terrible pathing. Terrible resource layout. Just terrible. Red Ball Express - Way too lane-ey, impossible to flank. In: COH2 Gameplay

Fuel cost is fair. It's got great DPS but average range and isn't particularly durable (gets killed in three shots by a Jackson or a Firefly). Can't really fight infantry. If StuG is too OP for cost/popcap (which it might be) then so is the SU-76. Panther is a low-DPS tank that might be okay if it weren't still buried in a semi-irrelevant tier. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Italian Faction Proposal (Outline)24 Sep 2016, 08:17 AM Problems I perceive with an Italian faction - - Not of much military relevance to WWII after 1943 and CoH2 is set in about 1944-45. - Not enough non-experimental military technology to compete with other factions. The Italians only produced one real medium tank for instance and according to Wikipedia it was only actually used by the Germans. Going to do a bit of a plug here, I actually spent a fair bit of time working on a third Axis faction concept a while back and ended up arriving at a joint Italian-German faction based on the Luftwaffe Herman Goering division that fought in Italy.
