You are compareing ammo which you are investing in your troops to make them deadly vs ammo you just must spend to stop MGs (you are not investing in your troops). Just as yours are because you don't 100% of every game need to spend 200-300 munitions in smoke to have a chance against machineguns. In: COH2 Balance
