Now this looks like a fucking PATCH, folks. Pretty excited by what I'm seeing.

Your opponent isn't really the greatest player. They focused on capping insignificant stuff with their first Volks squad instead of forcing all your forces off the map in that first engagement, they didn't use their idle Kubel at the cutoff to try to cut off your 1 man retreating Rifle squad, they didn't chase your second 1 man retreating Rifle squad with their Sturmpios, they barely reacted when you attacked their Kubel + Sturmpios on the left from three directions, they basically threw away the second Kubel in that next assault, they picked up their MG-34 in the center for no reason just after you stole another one which maybe prevented them from getting a kill on that squad, they weren't very good with their infantry + MG micro especially when it comes to dodging grenades (see for instance ~9:14 or ~18:10, where blobbing costs them dearly vs grenades they don't dodge), they dumped all their munis into schrecks for their Volks before they even saw a Lt, the first thing they teched up to was a Walking Stuka (doubly nuts because they basically only built infantry for the first 10 minutes and didn't get the healing truck), their first Stuka barrage was into the fog of war and killed almost nothing despite the fact that they had vision of two squads which were suppressed, their Puma micro was atrocious (watch the gun barrel spin a full 360 degrees without shooting or killing anyone almost as soon as the Puma comes out), at ~12:40 they capped a point with two infantry squads, and when you drive your Sherman straight into the two Pumas and it gets fucking wrecked, they don't follow up and attempt to go for the killing blow, either with their Volks or with the two Pumas.

It's pretty irritating that CoH 2 performs worse than vCoH and WFA just made the game worse. I've basically stopped playing not because the game is too awful but because the performance is too awful. This coincides with recently getting into Dota 2 and just having a much easier time of everything because the menus and the game work flawlessly. Firing up CoH 2 is like starting up a round of Russian roulette except instead of getting shot in the head when you lose, you lose a squad because the game froze when your opponent threw a grenade. It also doesn't help that if I want to play on low graphics settings I have to constantly keep fiddling with them because to record a vidcast I have to turn the graphics back up.

I've been ranting and nagging about this since the start of the beta, even started several threads here about it. Nobody gave a shit.

And suddenly, out of the blue, everyone wanted it after AmiPolizeiFunk wrote that piece of art. Some people even condemned Relic for not having this in the game since day one even though they probably didn't write a single word here or elsewhere requesting this feature.



I really hope that this observer mode comes with a lot of options and that it is a benefit for everyone and not just the casters. It kinda defeats its purpose if you can only use it in custom games and not in automatch.

What are you talking about "nobody gave a shit?" Here is a reddit post about a Q&A from a year ago. Notice how they were asking about observer mode. Here is someone on reddit asking for it 6 months ago. When all those casters visited Relic before CoH 2 came out they asked about observer mode. I and others (and Ami!) have been bitching about this since long before Ami wrote the article. I was asking for this before launch and I've been asking for it continually ever since. And I know I'm not the only one.

It's also not clear to me how "defeats the purpose" if it only works in custom games. One of the main purposes of observer mode is to run live tournaments. That's like, the biggest reason to have it.
