If I understand it correctly (unlikely) then two things are important to suppression: Bullets fired Suppression value per bullet That's it. Accuracy, scatter, all of that doesn't matter. Technically the Maxim does .017 suppression per shot while the MG42 does .012 per shot: The maxim puts out more suppression per-bullet (~40% more). It fires half as fast at long range (it's fire-rate seems to improve quicker at closer ranges) though so that only helps it counteract it's lesser fire-rate. I'm not really good enough with the stats to tell you which one is actually better. I do know that the MG42 has far better AoE suppression (which affects squads near the one you're targeting). You're right. No wonder the maxim suppresses first. I saw suppression for a full burst. But that still does not explain why I saw a Rifle squad did not get suppressed by one full burst from the MG42 but got suppressed from his teammate's maxim which I stole just a few minutes later. Didn't even realise I planted the mine on the bomb until I watched the replay. Always thought that the T34/85 got a hit on the tellermine and that destroyed the mine. I would say trisib's early game was stronger than mine. He didn't lose the 2 grens squads like I did at the start. He had no tanks because he trusted his paks to fight off any tanks while he spent his fuel for munitions and wait for my tigers to appear and make a push. Didn't go T3 since E8s were on the field while no T4 since a Tiger is just better. In: Replays

In CoH2 I play Ost because I am not a fan of US, and I play Soviets when I have to just so I could play with some mates since they are mostly playing allies. Being hard or easier to play has no meaning to me, I just follow my personal preference and try to enjoy the game. We think alike. I play Ost becauses they are fun and require proper positioning of MG, mortar, Grens, Pak etc. Soviet because my 2v2 partner likes playing Soviet. I don't play USF nor OKW much because they're more about dealing out the most damage possible without worrying too much about positioning, manuever and tactics when compared to Soviet or Ost. I saw at COH2 stats website and it shows that the MG42's suppression is higher than the Maxim but in game the Maxim always seem to be the better gun. Does accuracy affect suppression? Does suppression only take effect when the bullet hits the target? In: Strategy Desk
Thread: Ostheer commander loadout3 Aug 2014, 13:33 PM I go Spearhead, Lightning War and Jaeger Armour. Lightning War when I want to fight the American riflemen with my grenadiers. I always go 2 grenadiers vs 1 riflemen. If he blobs he will meet my HMG42. If he goes 2 squads he meets the HMG again. If he spread out then his lone squad will get thrashed by 2 Grenadiers. 2 Grenadiers already kill riflemen well but 2 squads with G43 you start to pity the riflemen. Spearhead and Jaeger Armour I mainly use against Soviets. These 2 commanders are very solid and allow me to react to what my opponent does. If he goes ISU/IS2 then I go Jaeger, if he goes T34/85 or something without heavy tanks then I go Spearhead. The mortar track allows you to burn MG nests, tall buildings which give a sight boost etc. In: Ostheer Strategies

Why not Duclair??? Why give us a tiny choke point right outside our base, why!? A lot of the fun of CoH comes from sneaking into a great position (True sight really ads to the fun in coh2) then attacking behind support weapons for a good flank. Unfortunately, most of what I see now is a slug fest. Face to face hammering from the front. Not much opportunity to sneak around and get behind in a clever way. Either slug it out toe-to-toe blob v blob or camp and slug it out with indirect fire vs indirect fire. Only a few maps offer an opportunity for dynamic play. I really think that bigger, wider maps would reduce the impact some of the "OP" units have on the game and thus reduce that OP feeling. But larger maps would mean that your Grenadier/Conscripts will only reach a place after walking for half a day. CoH1 your troops were always running while in CoH2 your troops are like taking a stroll through Russia/Belgium. In: COH2 Balance
