I dont see how buffing Cons, somehow magically fixes Maxims. By buffing conscripts (giving them more accuracy with vet 2) while reducing weapon crew to 4 men, you would reduce the number of maxim spammers and would see more conscripts strat. Shouldn't core infantry be doing the most of the fighting instead of say 6 Machine guns. |
I don't understand, some people here seem to not understand that that all axis units have proportionally higher DPS than their soviet counterparts to account for the larger squad sizes.
A german sniper kills a soviet 6 man team just as fast as a soviet sniper kills a 4 man team.
A grenadier squad kills a maxim just as fast as a conscript squad kills a mg 42 team. Yes, that is true that german deal more damage than their soviet counterparts (Except MGs) but remember that conscripts can merge with weapon teams to maintain that rate of fire for very long. 6 men that takes quite a while to die and take grenades better than their german counterpart while being able to be reinforced by conscripts will mean they are real threats in the game. You can choose to maintain that rate of fire by merging with conscripts or have more rifles shooting. I choose the former since a well microed maxim is better than the MG42 unless the MG42 has vet. |
How about so that when conscripts get vet 2 they become as accurate as guards/volksgrenadier eh? Conscripts do get vet very fast just like any other core infantry squad. I find that when fighting the West they idea is not always to kill them but to bleed them as much as possible. The Sturmpioniere are so easy to force retreat with 2 squads of conscripts while Volksgrenadier you don't even need anything special except a conscript squad. Then maxims can have 4 men squads instead of 6 men as it is. |
Soviets need a rework with some nerfs and buffs here and there. Replace penal with guards? |

Ostruppen are actually pretty decent. They start to fall off in usefulness once vet 2 hits the field, but before that they're pretty solid.
Well they do beat RE troops but never seen anyone use them beat Rifles or even conscripts. You got any replay that shows Osttruppen's usefulness? I'm interested to see how you use them. |
I think it's just that most players consider several maxims + several cons as maxim spam.
One legitimate criticism of Maxims is that they can often beat MG42s head on, due to it's higher durability and fast setup time for suppressing. It's suppression against single models are very similar. Even if Mg42 gets first shots off, often it will be more suppressed.
A WW1 machine gun vs one of the best WWII machine guns on a tripod... WW1 MG wins hands down.
Srsly though, an ancient MG beating modern MG?

M-42 is the Ostruppen of AT guns.
Relic should release a commander on April 1 with a "captured weapons" theme where for only 400 MP you can call in an M-42 crewed by Ostruppen. Like it would be useful. Who needs the M-42 if the only it kills is the M3 and T-70. Plus, a panzerfaust and MG42 does the job better. |
MAYBE, just an idea, allow it to garrison inside buildings? AT gun in a building? Can you even push it through the door? |
I don't consider brummbar to be overpriced, pretty much every time I got it recently it wrecked havoc.
Getting to T4 is the hard part, but brummbar cost and performance is exactly where it should be, it packs a punch, it takes it and can even fight med tanks so its in pretty good spot for its cost. Only issue is getting to T4.
What do you sacrifice to the RNG gods? The StuPa hasn't worked very well for me lately that even my Panzerwerfer's MG42 works better. |
