It is strange that a non-doc heavy tank which excels at killing infantry has better penertration stats than a t-34-76. Is it intended? I mean, doctrinal 105 Sherman has only 35 pen.

Eh they'll probably give it an armor and damage buff next patch or move to T2 so it's "more available" because Axis crap always has to be "more available".

Yes, it does have higher pen than a T34/76 (+20 at all ranges), but its' projectile is also incredibly slow moving; the chances of a direct hit vs. a moving vehicle is very low (unless using attack-ground, but then it's a skill-shot). I can't really think of a situation in which the higher pen would make it over-performing?

As for the 105-sherman having low pen; I'm really not sure why it's that low. Possibly because it has a turret and higher RoF?

Both The 105 and the brumbar has deflection damage so they always do damage.

On the other hand the Dozer upgrade Shermans have have switchable munition having both AT and great AI.

Because of deflection damage as mentioned and the Brummbar is all about raw power given it lacks a turret with less utility abilities like the smoke. Its gun is supposed to be better than the 105mm in most aspects.

Except freedom.

The Brunmbar has only 50% as much Freedom as a 105mm Sherman.

However this does put its Freedom at about the same as a T34/76 and about 75% higher than Ostruppen.

Like in close combat? Usually mediums will try to attack brummbar's rear so if they get close even the slow projectile will have good chance to hit. So if two tanks are both low on health a penertrate shot could change the result...idk.

Getting hit from a assault gun without a turret on its rear. Hmmmm...

Purely a L2P issue. Just keep your medium tank in motion and Brum won't hit anything. Thread closed.

I don't. Pretty sure brace was never permanent. It's cooldown used to be way too fast but when was it permanent?

Don't derail guys. This has nothing to do with the topic in the slightest. But he means the UKF emplacement abiliity (green shield icon, weapons disabled for damage reduction)

To the subject:
I don't get why the Brummbär should have decent penetration. It's worth its price in AI capability, so why should it also have the chance to deal decent damage against mediums while it already has (according to someone posting earlier) deflection damage? This does not make a lot of sense.
Against lights, sure, but a medium should not be threatened to be damaged by normal shots.
However, I'd argue for high penetration for the bunker busting barrage because the Brummbär here behaves more like the AVRE/Sturmtiger.

Your opponent will always rotate and reverse brummbar while being flanked, so yeah...
