Why is it so hard??? I can never hold my own late game I usually have a big lead but lose because they get tanks so fast. Any tips?

Get a commander that can get give you an early game advantage like Mechanized Assault, or Osttruppen. If you had a good early start then your most likely to have the advantage to win the rest of the match. But remember ostheer is probably the slowest faction to tech up.

I use commanders with command P4 only. And if your enemy camping with mgs and mortars, pak howies etc, just get howitzer for yourself. That is what usually helps.
And also double pak is a must, some situations requiere even pzgrens with panzershreks.
All the other things depend on your skill. From what I see people want A-move faction. But OST is all about positioning and getting advantage of combined arms.
