It's not a silver bullet, and you have to be prepared for rocket arty to mess up your inf, so worth having a panther to try counter things like that.

I used to go Elite Troops; use Stormtroopers as back flaggers and flankers, then shore up my G43 Grens to overwhelm. Stormtroopers, in my opinion, are a bit squishy and a high risk unit.
I actually really like Defensive Doctrine with Ostruppen right now. I have a pair of Ostruppen roaming around quickly building bunkers for area denial, whilst I'm fast teching for a P4. Truppen have fausts that can disable light armor.
They are very squishy against assault units, particularly assault engineers and brand spankin' new assault tommies.
Your enginneer, after he lays down a med and repair bunker can now be dispatched to lay mines down.
