Hi guys,



Im bringing a proposal to another REVAMP, now for the MAP LIST for 2019 SEASON.

Months ago I made a proposal about some Ardennes Assault and Theater of War maps into CoH2 automatch. Now im refining my proposal with other maps which were proved in the grounds on the past, like CoH1 CoH 2 past lifetime.

Im asking for add this maps into automatch. Its a Relic choice to remove or not the most 2018 vetoed maps.


This Map 2019 Revamp will bring a new life to the map list and automatch. Relic can marketing this like a new season (like Fortnite game did all the time).

2019 SEASON

My suggestion consist in:

*Tested maps in the past (CoH1 / CoH2 past seasons);
*Extremely popular maps in the past like DUCLAIR, SEMOIS OR ECLIPTIC FIELDS;
*Some of them are winter maps without deep snow or blizzards (people are asking for Winter maps in official forums, Steam forums and Reddit);
*Relic maps or at least custom maps who went into live in old CoH interactions;
*Open maps with less chokepoints;
*Epic PAST maps ;).



+Semois (2) - CoH 1 official automatch map
+Duclair (2-4) - CoH 1 custom map went into automatch around 2010
+Winter Storm (2-4) - ToW Victory at Stalingrad 1942
+Road to Lingeuville (2-4) - Ardennes Assault multiplayer custom map
+Overgrowth (2 - 4) - Coh2 custom map in automatch around 2014
+Lorraine (4) - CoH1 automatch map
+Ecliptic Fields (4) - CoH1 / Coh2 custom map automatch around 2015-2016

Semois (2)

Semois is the Semoiskiy Summer map version with French/Belgium buildings and construcions like the CoH1 classic map. This version fit perfect for 1v1 action only.

The Semois mapper (Zupadupadude) is the same mapper who made and bring Red Ball Express to CoH2 automatch.

Lets make the "Semois pin" great again? :D

Duclair (2-4)

Duclair is one of best CoH1 maps of all time. Made by Onkelsam ( Crossing in the woods (2-4) mapper) and converted in two versions for Coh2. Time to time people asked for this map in CoH2 automatch.

Winter Storm (2-4)

*Relic map
*Eastern front setting
*Rural setting
*Snow setting (with no blizzards and thin ice)
*Pretty balanced
*Open map and a lot of space for the 1v1/2v2 meta
*The only con is the deep snow in this map. Relic/community mappers need to adress that.











Road to Lingeuville (2-4)


Road to Lingeuville is one of the most beautiful maps in CoH history, a night setting in Battle of Bulge period. Its a Relic map from AA custom maps.

















Overgrowth (2 - 4)

Overgrowth is a open map in Eastern Front rural setting with rain. Perfect for flank and tank action.

Players barely remember this map in CoH2, but this map appear for a brief moment in CoH2 Automatch in 2014. Is one of the first community maps in CoH2 history.

Lorraine (4)

CoH1 2v2 automatch map - A heavily destroyed urban landscape, Lorraine favors close-quarters combat amongst the ruins.

Mapper: ColossalGammon


Description:

"I remember this town the day we arrived - streets packed with children playing, markets buzzing with activity in the warm midday sun. Now it's no more than a graveyard of rubble and ash; a burial plot for the innocence of mankind." A heavily destroyed urban landscape, Lorraine favors close-quarters combat amongst the ruins.















Ecliptic Fields (4)

Ecliptic Fields is one of the best 2v2 maps in CoH1 history. Its a double 1v1 map in early game, perfect for try new tatics. This map went live into CoH2 for a shot period of time (around 3 months 2015-2016). Its time to getback this map to the automatch rotation.

Bulligen Spearhead (6)

Bulligen Spearhead is a 3v3 map from AA multiplayer custom maps wich remembers the classic Villers-Bocage from CoH1. Villers-Bocage is one of 3v3 CoH1 favorite maps from past players because has CITY+RURAL settings. Its a Relic map from AA custom maps.

In this map we have a city and an outkirts playground. Perfect for tanks and flanks.







Lanzerath Ambush (6)

Lanzerath Ambush is already a 4v4 map in the CoH2 automatch. Now Im advocating to bring this map to the 3v3 map pool. Why? Because this map have 3 lanes, like Red Ball Express (great map). We need more "lane maps" into 3v3.





Lienne Forest Winter (6-8)


This a more competitive version from the popular Lienne Summer. This version have the fuel points in the middle of the map, not in the back like the summer version. Its a Relic map from AA custom maps.







Brody Tank War (6-8)


This map in ToW act like a campaign map, but we have luck on this one. MonolithicBacon (one of the best community mappers) already made a multiplayer version of them. And this map is a hell of fun.

*Giant map with a lot of open space, perfect for tank battles. The 4v4 crowd will love.




















Overloon (6)

Wonderfull map for 3v3 focused in Village + OUTSKIRTS. The map is set around Operation Market Garden and remembers a "giant Vaux Farmlands" for 3v3.

Plenty of room to tanks and making flanks with infantry and halftracks.

Description:

After the failure of Operation Market Garden, the Allies were left with a salient running across the South-East Netherlands; to defend it from Axis counter-attacks and advance over the Meuse, they launched Operation Aintree. The U.S. 7th Armored Division was brought to the van and attacked Overloon, where it took huge casualties from a defending force including the 107th Panzer Brigade, and stalled. The 7th was then replaced by the British 3rd Infantry and 11th Armoured Divisions; after a tremendous artillery barrage on the town, the British attacked in what would be known as the 'second Battle for Caen'.

















Kursk (6 - 8)

CoH2 automatch deserves a Kursk map since forever. This a great map for tank warfare and 3v3/ 4v4 needs something like that.

The Battle of Kursk marked a turning point in Wehrmacht Blitzkrieg, wherein Soviet defences and preparations equalised the strengths of the two armies, leading to one of the largest shows of force during the entire war. In the open fields and ruined villages around Kursk, armoured combat was the only viable option, with a combined total of approximately 8000 tanks and 5000 aircraft. In this vast battlefield, victory will go to those who can fortify the open areas between each team, and exploit the minimal roadways on the flank. With few places to hide, attack is the only form of defence.

Gigant city map wich remembers the 4v4 Lorch Assault map (the 5 VP map).

Description:

Oosterbeek played a crucial role in Operation Market Garden, and was both a staging ground and route of retreat. With British and American forces landing in nearby Wolfheze, the road to Oosterbeek needed to be secured to later provide roadways and railways into Arnhem, where the main offensive was beginning. Defending Wehrmact forces were aware of this importance and moved to engage their airborne foe with haste, and each force was unprepared for the other when they clashed. Bitter fighting between hedgerows and buildings demands combined tactics on a large scale.














Schmidt (6 - 8)

Giant winter arena map with a lot of room to make flanks and spearheads. Very few houses between capture points.

Description:

The battle for Schmidt represents a serious underestimation on the the part of the American forces during the Battle of the Bulge. Infantry arrived at the town under-equipped, short of anti-tank weaponry, lacking armour support itself, and exhausted from their march through the surrounding woodland. Able to accomplish little more than scatter landmines on the many roads within the town and occupy abandoned Wehrmacht trenches, this small force of infantry were left to hold against one of the most viscious assaults of the war.


















Route N13 (8)

This is one is a favorite map from CoH1 and CoH Online 4v4 players. Massive frontline with a lot of options for 4v4 gang. The atmosphere on this map is incredible ( Heavy rain + night).

Description:

Route N13 is an important supply and troop transport road that runs through the middle of Sainte-Mère-Église. Between the hedgerows and stone walls of the small urban setting lies a devastating strategic advantage: a direct route into northern France from the Utah and Omaha beachheads. The Commanders that control route N13 are the Commanders that control the war.

















Just to conclude my thread. This map list revamp aims somekind good for the future of this game (and future of this franchise).

We have 6.739 maps in CoH2 Steam Workshop at this moment:

And few of them, maybe 0,0000001% goes for automatch in CoH2 lifespam. Why a mapper who worked in their free time will continue to work in this custom content for this game (and CoH3) if the content is renegate by the developers ? We have wonderfull mappers like Whiteflash, Monobacon, DonXavi, Senseo1990, Zupadude, Spanky... and they are keep renegate from automatch time to time since CoH1.

Why this guy dont have any more maps in automatch? Many of their maps are clearly superior to Relic maps in the first place. A major revamp like I proposed in this thread, brings hope for CoH2 and maybe CoH3 for mappers continues with their hard work and help Relic earns money.

Different locations and battlefields will bring life and a refresh for maybe one or two years for this game. People are claiming for more maps on autmatch, especially for 3v3 and 4v4 for years. Teamgames plyers are the most public in this game. Why keep renegate this people with poor map list?


Another argument is that none of my chosen maps in this thread are worse than current automatch maps like: Ettelbruck Station, Trois Ponts, Angermude, Port of Hamburg, Lienne Summer or Vielsam. All this maps promoted camp/arty game type with horrible chokepoints and they are automatch maps for years. :romeoMug:


The time to change the automatch map list for 2019 season has come Relic. Give the first steps please. :)

Lienne forest winter needs some small changes with the location of the ressource points but other than that I would love to see that map in the automatch pool


Lanzerath Ambush in 3v3 would be garbage unless you can make a version where 1 player is NOT separated from his 2 teammates

Bringin any of the CoH1 2vs2 maps into CoH2 is a wet dream
(BTW Duclair is gonna need to be flattened)

And yes, some winter maps would be sweet, preferably with strategic ice, like OKA river

What we also need are short and wide maps. Got enough tunnel ones

Also, there are some existing ones that are brutally unbalanced but can be made great by a tiny rescaling (Arnhem Checkpoint for example)

some people actually like oka river? o_O

Personally I think it's a terrible map cuz of the frozen oka splitting the whole map in 2 halfs. You cannot easily help your team if you are on the other side of the river. And the north spawn is ridiculously unfair cuz you have to cross the river in order to reach the main part of the map on the left side. It is always gg game over when the south team has pushed you away from the left side. You can't break out. It would be an amazing map without the river however.


Winter maps are nice as long as they have as few as possible frozen seas imo

Awesome, all of these maps look excellent and I hope we will see them eventually, especially the 4v4 Brody tank war, that one looks incredible and we badly need another 4v4 map. Lienne forest winter also looks good, what other significant changes does it have over the normal lienne forest map outside of the re positioned fuels?

It's good to see some suggestions for more 3v3 maps as well, specifically maps that are just for 3v3.

I completely agree, Oka River Winter and Rzhev Winter are terrible maps because the ice seperates portions of the maps and disallows flanking and rotating (unless you want to risk your tanks getting oneshot through the ice). They would be much better maps if the ice was removed imo.


I'd also like to see another revamp for Lienne Forest (and Winter variant) that opens up the forest more. Vehicles get stuck on every one of the 1000 trees (south side mostly) and the forest lanes discourage flanking. Some lanes (like the river from the south base) look wide enough for tanks but actually aren't. The middle area should have more sight blockers or cover I think. The red cover rivers everywhere should be removed as they are too punishing. On the south side there should be some tweaks so the retreat path from the station doesn't take squads through the forest. MG spam is super hard to counter, especially as OKW. It might be very interesting to make some of the dense forest sections actually heavy crush so late game tanks and heavy explosions can clear the forest.

The last revamp did a good job making the town and middle sections of the map pretty nice and I enjoy playing there, but the forest remains a pain to play in. I feel like instant /L 'ing whenever I get the forest spawn.

Agreed on both points. The ice on Oka River make supporting either side of the map from the other a risk, if there was more land in the middle of the map it would be a lot better. Also curious to how a winter version of Lienne would open up the map because like you said, there's limited paths for vehicles to get into the forest on the normal summer version and I hope a winter version would open it up a bit.

The teamgames (3v3 and 4v4) needs desperately more OPEN maps, like BRODY TANK WAR.
