How to nerf Mobile Defense without it becoming CAS

Maybe we should ban the doctrine in competitions to see if Ost players come up with another strategy or their winrate suffers drastically.


is there a way to see the win rate of a faction? every 1vs1 oh games of the last four weeks. does anyone know if or how this works?

There used to be winrate stats for automatch but now the service is gone. However, competitions still show everyone what balance is like at least for top players.

I feel the problem is with light vehicles as a whole. Light vehicles, across the board are too good. They all should die to a stiff breeze, making infantry tactics and positioning are lot more crucial. Nerf the T70, Puma, Luchs, AEC, 222 and Stuart into the ground and the game will be better off.

Well, guess what?
They used to die to a stiff breeze.

During that time meta was infantry spam into med armor rush with nothing in between, because lights were not viable at all.

Lights are shock units, if you anticipate and get AT, you'll hardcounter them before they even arrive, but if you don't, you'll feel pain for neglecting tech and preparing for mid game.

2-3 mines and an AT gun shut down effectively most lights.

Problem with these statistics is the matchmaker which is supposed to even out different powerlevels of factions, which in theory should work out unless you are in the top or bottom 2% of players. You can check out the details in this article; the numbers are outdated, but at least it explains how this is supposed to work out.

Most people would argue that win-rates between top players playing in a tournament are more relevant. You can check those out here.

That said, the actual power of a faction will depend on the game mode, the map and the skill level of a player. Certain features that might appear unbeatable at a certain skill level might be trivial to counter at others.

Mobile Defense, for example, requires you to be capabable of handling the Puma and not loose it outright. I personally suck at killing any LV used against me, but get them killed instantly whenever I try to use one myself, so Mobile Defense is actually more UP in my hands...
