Ok new idea. Since Relic balked, let's seed this SINGLE-ELIMINATION tourney for them. List the players from 1 to 32 in order that you would seed them, with #1 being the best tournament player and most likely to win. You have various sources of information at your disposal to help you with the seeding:

Their past tournament performances (for example, ESL results)
Their ladder positions
Their recent games that you have seen (like in the Quali's or on streams)
The "Who will Win?" poll

Ok bubs, you are the fantasy tourney director. YOU DO THE SEEDS. Let's see em. I'll start working on mine.

Problem with all of Relic's tournaments has been poor seeding. This leads to consistently bad games up until around the quaters. I don't even think they have a system based on current rankings. Last week I played a 1000+ opponent in R1 and rank #2 in R2. Both were completely one sided games and I'm sure uninteresting to watch.

I kinda did, A_E. You convinced me to bump up DevM. Theo is still relatively high in my list. Normally we do this for a whole week in staff, taking multiple opinions into consideration.

:O You never checked out the Mentoring for this summer? Cookiez took great pains over the match-ups - Brosras was the surprise turn.

Warning: apparently, Brosras does not speak English, or if he does, it is very limited .

BTW, the seeding problem is the real drawback of a single-elim bracket. Most esports big events have gone to double-elimination or various hybrids (like the GSL system). I really love what Valve has done w TI6 in terms of tourney format. They run a group stage purely to seed teams into the main event, and it works cause the main event is a double-elim, but the bottom half from the groupstage go straight to the bottom half of the main bracket! So they only get one Best-of-1 shotgun chance to stay alive. It makes the groupstage (normally not very interesting) important, and it uses the groupstage results to seed the main double-elim event. Very clever. :thumb:

Well, I dunno who we have to thank for these seeds, but someone is sniffing something.

Relic's seeds:

#1: Jove
#2: VonIvan
#3: Noganno
#4: Paul ???
#5: Hans
#6: RtN.Dusty!!
#7: Talisman
#8: RedWings!!!

#9: Luvnest?
#13: DevM?

And the ultimate troll: matching BartonPL vs. shadowwada in ROUND ONE.

I'm flabbergasted.

So because of this strange seeding, we have a totally stacked top bracket (Jove, Barton, wada, Luvnest, Noggano, DevM, Hans, Sprice, Vindi) and a much much much easier bottom bracket (VonIvan, Theo, cruzz, Paul, Jesulin). No offense to guys in the bottom bracket, but you got the easy road boyz.

I read it totally right. Von is the #2 seed and got the bottom bracket bye. The numbers are right next to the names.

Wow it's totally different now.

It looks slightly better, but the ultimate trollgame (Barton vs. wada Round 1) is still intact.

I'd like to think we've had a positive influence on this event. That first brackets was atrocious.

We did it reddit! :P

Noganno vs DevM in R2 should never happen. :( They should both be top 8 and not meet before the QuarterFinals.
