Opinions of the panzerwerfer

I rarely ever see this thing in game and I never really build either. So I was wondering what the forums opinion of them are. It seems to be identical the it's soviet counterpart with the exception of number of rockets fired. So if that's the case does that just make it crappy version of the Katushka?

It can be amazing, but highly situational, and tech cost as well as delaying of real tanks hurts.

It is a beast now. Using it at min range is a granted 4 model wipe. Though it arrives way too late, it is the tool you need to wipe out blobs with 0.56% received accuracy .

Perfect anti-blobber in 4v4 matches... I get 3 of them. And fire it "on" and "front" and "behind" the blob. And it is awesome moment to watch x)

Unlike the Katy the rockets are more tightly clumped both in time and space and they deal suppression.

This means I view the Katy as something you use to break up or harass defensive positions or OKW trucks and the Panzerwerfer as something you use to stop infantry pushes. This doesn't mean that you can't use the one as the other of course

However it's not something you tend to see outside the larger game modes

Permanently Banned
Finally useful and worth the tech! The only problem I have, like someone already said, it delays tanks to much, so it is a gamble.

be carefull if u want to take out pak howies with it. 1 shoot will deal 50% to ur panzerwerfer and they hit almost always. 2 of them can take it out before u manage to fire ur salvo.

(i wanted to counter his double pak howie with panzerwerfer, didnt end well ^^)

I like to scout with Grens until I see some blobs of AT guns and infantry, Then have one Nebel drive forward (not too far) and shoot them plus offmap arty if available and enough mun. Then after that is done the Panthers plus Flame-Pios charge.

From the July balance patch.

Panzerwerfer

Ease of use change to allow the Panzerwerfer to gain veterancy at a more reasonable rate.

-Reduce veterancy requirements by 20%

September 17th Patch

Panzerwerfer

Reducing the scatter slightly and adding suppression to the rockets to improve the unit’s effectiveness.

-Distance scatter reduced from 20 to 17
-Rockets now deal suppression
-Damage profile changed from 1/0.35/0.05 to 1/0.5/0.30

I think that's the extent of important changes over the past couple months.

There's also the tech changes to make T4 more accessible

Panzerwerfer is definitely in a great spot. Is it OP? I don't think so.
It just performs so much better than the Katyusha (which now comes later thanks to changes in Soviet teching) due to it's suppression and the near-simultaneous arrival of the rockets of death.

The Katyusha is just worse in every way. Panzerwerfer is without a doubt a beast that annihilates blobs.

I would say the PW is now what makes T4 useful. Heavy artillery or good non-doctrinal indirect-fire option outside of the mortar is what Ost really lacks until late game and it's probably the best way for Ost to clear out ATGs (especially Brit 6pdrs) without being forced to fight head-on or in a defensive position due to the nature of Ostheer revolving around its support weapons or infantry who generally excel at mid-long range.

Rest of the T4 units can generally be covered by their T3 counterparts more cost-efficiently, especially when it comes to engaging the majority of Allied armour which are mediums.

Priest is also useful , but each of them has different role

Werfer is short time killer on defensive positions , capping units , while priest is better on killing retreating squads in hq.

Stuka is predictable and easy to dodge, but when it works it works really good
Katty has so big scatter but its great for destroying defensive positions too.
