Dear god! These guys are the kings of the battle field! soo good!

MY assault engees in green cover beat a yellow cover strum pios squad. I WAS SHOCKED! Pre-patch they would die to everything.

Give engees BARS. They become RAMBO! They perform well of above their price of 280mp.

Truly gods. they are beating most units they they normally lose too :clap:

Sturmpioneers were nerfed as well, so that is also a factor in why Assault Engineers are doing better.

Interesting to hear. I am also a bit curious about vehicle crews with SMGs now since Thompsons were buffed.

That is not god like, that is acting as they should. Green cover is like hiding behind a metal wall while yellow cover is like being behind foliage. That is not even counting if the Sturmpios approached from long range into medium or short range.

280 MP unit with bars? of course they preform way above their price, you added 60 munition to the cost of the unit. It would be pretty sad if you upgraded a unit and it didnt get any better.

Doctrinal unit does not mean "better", by that logic Ostruppen should be the tits as well, but that would be silly

Assault Engineers decimate Sturmpioneers, and effectively everything else. Their DPS at 10 meters is higher than Sturmpioneers DPS at 4.

no way, 360 manpower is elite infantry level cost. assault engineers are in the same boat as sturmpios, theyre really good until the mid game at which point they become increasingly useless.

The sheer DPS they put out puts them within "Elite Infantry" territory. They do more DPS than Sturmpioneers or Panzergrenadiers, while costing less. The only squad with higher DPS are Shock Troops, and they only have more because they have 6 members instead of 4. Even 5 Shock Troop model have less DPS than 4 Assault Engineers models.

So they need a DPS nerf.

I dont know why Relic jacked it up past all other CC units...

half-baked patches surprising you? you clearly didn't play dow2. lictor alpha cloak (was so bad it warranted a hotfix for a balance issue, holy shit...), apo chainsword heal stacking (did it ever get fixed), and catachans (math error, last balance patch so never fixed...)

They are still very vulnerable to getting focus fired down. You have to screen with Rifles over large swaths of land with little cover or else they die on approach. They just actually do damage if you can maneuver them now. Not quite godlike, but worth building now.

Wouldn't be so bad if they weren't cheaper and far more effective than Sturmpioneers are now...

I don't think they're an issue as OKW, sturmpios deal with them just fine if the AssEngies have to run up to you and they're not exactly cheap to reinforce. But starting with 3 assengies against ostheer on a map that isn't langres or crossing is stupidly powerful because grens and pios don't do anything to the engies (you need two grens far away from each other to force off one assengie squad) and the only way MG42s will be effective is if you guess exactly where your opponent is going to be for the first few engagements. Map control ends up being even worse than against rifles and then you get the usual lieutenant light vehicle rush to seal the deal.
