You have to get yourself familiar with Action_markers.
They're the red flag next to "object placement" called "Render Marker Prox."
Then in the menu press Action markers (It's always set on "Scar markers").
Then right click anywhere on the map you want to put it.
Then select it and click "Edit action", under 'New command' select: Sound_Attach near the bottom of the list.
Then click "Patch" and select the sound you want to add.
Some sounds will not be generated right away and take a small time to take effect.
This is the first time I'm explaining something of the worldbuilder to someone, there are some better ways to show you how online.
Or one of the professional map makers of this site will react to this topic!
anyways, Good luck!

Excellent instructions Invictus, thanks!
Sadly, none of the rain sounds seem to work (the thunder sound files do though). Perhaps I need to wait longer for the sounds to take effect?

pfff I've been going at it all day, trying every possible rain sound... It's also interesting for me because I'm making a rainy map... Did found some good action markers though with some nice rain splash on the ground... couldn't get the sounds working...

You can add rain drops/splahses by going to:
The Scar markers, right click again.
Then select it and click "Edit action", under 'New command' select: fx_Attach about halfway trough the list.
Then click the second line called ''Fx'' (basicly almost the same as with adding an sound attach).
Then go to Fx_Ambient - Weather, and there you pick the one you would like!

Too bad about the sound fx, appreciate you sharing your findings though.
NICE work finding those rains splashes. they look far better than those wretched splashes found in the Atmosphere properties.
By the way, is there any sort of limit to how many you can use? Like if I were to duplicate the action markers all over my map... would there be any issues?

Not so far as I'm concerned.. Had a map with a hundred or so (adding smoke and wind really needs allot of them).
But you ought to be carefull, to much of something is never a good thing!

oh, and a tip.
Do things like action markers at the end of the map-making process, as smoke and rain make it hard for you to put in more details like splats etc.

cool thanks for the tip, ya I'm planning on doing all that as a final fx pass. A hundred you say? great to hear the engine can handle that much.

It takes about 15 to do a great waterfall, 10 to do the rimples around a broken bridge, if you have an map that's filled with artillery holes, you want some to produce smoke. Maybe a building has a raging fire in it... you get my point! never had any trouble with the engine not being able to process it, but... there's always a limit! haha
