The tanks were on fire. Scouts had failed to check the nearby woods and when they passed by. A volley of Panzerfausts left them burning in a matter of seconds. And shortly thereafter the Main German assault came.

Columns of Assault guns bogged down in the mud. Men asking for orders. Things were looking problematic for Hauptmann Müller. And that was before even accounting for the Americans moving in on his positions. Drastic measures would have to be taken.

Men from the Reichsarbeitsdienst were milling all over the place . Sergeants trying to get them into order as Leutnant Weber was wonderong why he had been put in charge of this rabble.

He'd seen many before him be wrong and get cut down by bullets, taken out by a sniper or stumble over a boobytrap. Albert took a deep breath "Alright chaps. Looks like Jerry's not about. It was complete madness at Divisional Headquarters. Orders had suddenly come to move the division to block the advance of the 2nd American Division. How ? They were already tied up dealing with the 5th and 7th Armoured Divisions. A kampfgruppe was hastily put together to deal with the 2nd Armoured until some solution could be put together.

The street was empty and they thought it was all safe. He was about to prove them wrong. A pull of the trigger and two were down, the rest scattering to the sides of the street. And then the rest of his squad opened up fire.
And a quick retrospective of the year 2016.
