Lets say you smoke something with leig and sent your infantry in, so they would fight at 0 range
Would sturms or volks m40 have the most dps at and who would last longer in close combat.
Or should i mix it up with 2 sturms and 2 volks?

Sturms have the most dps even if both squads lose a model, but SPs are also very very very busy. MP40 volks also have a smoke grenade as part of their combat package.
