I built T1 with scout car and sniper, but my opponents mortar was very annoying. So I thought; hey let's try the 120mm mortar commander to be able to get my own mortar and counter it without T2 :)

I was starved on fuel and only had Guards to fight off the German vehicles, so I decided to wait for the T-34/85 call-in, and got pleasantly surprised that 2 of them arrived!
But I learned that their armor is not much improved, so soon my opponent got a T-34/85 of his own.. ^^
