1v1 on Kholodny Ferma. I followed a slight variation on Corp.Shephard's OKW Luftwaffe guide, but using the current free rotation commander.
I thought the name 'VindicareX' sounded familiar, but I couldn't recall how. Thankfully I didn't quickly check or I probably would have psyched myself out and quit 5 minutes in instead of having a pretty enjoyable game.

Vindi had a strange opening vs OKW here. I'm not sure I've ever seen someone not spam rifles right off the bat. I feel like he was playing around a bit and got taken by surprise because he aint no scrub. Like he said. It happens from time to time really good players relax a bit...then find out...hmm...I messed up or lost too much early and can't come back. Plus fortification is really a beast commander.

I know I'd probably get pummelled in a rematch. But it was an ego boost, nonetheless.

Yea I just got the drop a few days ago and it's my go to doctrine now. OKW with a OPak 43. Count me in.
I can def see the reason for a pride post however...no shame in that.
And....We are talking about the #1 player in 1on1 as OKW....so it's not like he doesn't understand the faction. Maybe he has not used Fortification much, I don't know. Either way....good stuff.

Incidentally, I followed this game with one against PauL.a.D on the same map. I started off squad wiping two of his rifles thanks to sturmpioneers being in great spots, and got some decent map control, so I was starting to love Kholodny
Unfortunately, I completely overlooked my AT for late game somehow, meaning the Easy Eights cleaned me up eventually. I still held them off for a while, leaving me plenty of time to construct a well-defended 88, so I don't know why I forgot I could build the damn things. Probably because I don't look at the sturmpioneer build menu very often.
Anyway, I figured the anti-climactic ending rendered the replay a bit worthless.
Unfortunately, I completely overlooked my AT for late game somehow, meaning the Easy Eights cleaned me up eventually. I still held them off for a while, leaving me plenty of time to construct a well-defended 88, so I don't know why I forgot I could build the damn things. Probably because I don't look at the sturmpioneer build menu very often.

Not really the best "game of the week" to my point of view.
Vindi retreated few units too late, leading to strong unit bleeding in early game. It was few nice moves by Cyanara there. The game was lost after 10 minutes, even though Vindi managed to stay in the game thanks to a great capping macro.
The missed shot on the panther from the tank destroyer and the paratrooper dying while retreating only sealed the game.

Yeah, I can see other replays with more honors now, so I'm not sure why it hasn't been bumped yet.
