Loosing stupa to own def arty

At around the 28 min mark one can see how my defensive arty overwatch kills my own stupa. Is this ability supposed to be a bigger threat to your own units then the enemies?

Yeah, damage to friendlies is just as high as damage to enemies with defensive arty.
I didn't watch the replay, but if it landed on an unlogical location the arty must've either targetted an enemy crawler or a enemy model that ran away from a wiped AT gun (I lost a Stug to the latter once)

The thing is the stupa was nearly full hp, and the arty kept hitting it XD, i rewatched the replay and didnt see any crawler so i dont know if it is a bug or not
