If you read between the lines, then it's clear that Relic is short on manpower, funding, and time it seems to develop/improve this game further.

I hope I'm wrong.

You should read Ami's blog from his trip to Vancouver. Relic has big plans to continue COH2 for years to come.

And in this interview he did say the following: "When people start making maps themselves" (see the question about True Sight). So a worldbuilder will come, we just don't know when :P

Yeh, we didn't ask the worldbuilder/modding question, as it was asked about a meeeellion times (approx.) in the recent RelicDevs AMA over on reddit.

Uh, worldbuilder question.......why not? There are a million specific worldbuilder questions that could have been asked to get away from the usual.

Can i get a link to these AMA RelicDevs reddit worldbuilder questions?

Also, ladder questions.

Otherwise great interview!

Here is the AMA. If you search "builder" you'll find some of the questions and if you search my name you'll find another one.

Disappointing there was no mention about Ladder/Leaderboards, World/Map builder, more details about improvements in replay, the SLI/Crossfire issue, or just about the game's future in general. At best, seems like a lot of it is still in the brainstorm / planning stage.

If you read between the lines, then it's clear that Relic is short on manpower, funding, and time it seems to develop/improve this game further.

I hope I'm wrong.

It's pointless asking about this stuff, they always just say "we'd love to add these features" or "we plan to implement things the community has asked for" or something like that. You never get a straight answer.

I'm a bit disappointed. Was hoping to learn something about the roadmap - what and when can we expect (ladder, improved replay system, random faction choice in automatch, and so on and so forth...).

Relic pretty clearly doesn't want to tell us any of this stuff. They always give super vague answers to those kinds of questions. It is pointless to ask them.

We are working on the world builder now for public release but have no current timetable. We wanted a 90 day goal for release
...we'll see if we hit it.

I think what I’d like to see is finding ways for the public to help police the game. Replay tools for instance that could help identify cheaters.

I'm sorry, but this just made me lol

I think writing off the day one DLC is a bit ridiculous, it's not just because it's the internet. Real Relic fans were definitely amongst the disappointed, or in my case a SEGA/Relic fan was disappointed. I'm not enraged by the DLC, I bought the collector's edition to support Relic but I still feel that locking players out of any strategic option via DLC should be frowned upon and I'd prefer those commanders were released freely to the rest of the community.

If they feel obligated to CE buyers they can just give us some cheap value adds: exclusive HD wallpapers, digital art book, the (wonderful) soundtrack, etc.

I want the soundtrack anyways, it's fantastic.

I wouldn't be 100% on that, SEGA's a big user of Valve Anti-Cheat and I'm sure they'll encourage Relic to add it eventually. Sometimes SEGA patches it in after release if they determine cheating is getting out of control, that's what they did with Sonic Racing Transformed.

As a fan of COH and good RTS games - this is fucking infuriating. Standard practice for game dev interviews though.

"we don't have the resources to match SC2/Dota2/LoL matchmaking, ladders, replay, clan features etc." would do just fine.

Qduffy, and everyone at relic, are champions for the effort to get it out that soon. Looking forward to it.

Nice interview! Thanks guys.

I just really hope that chat lobbies/ladders are built in for the sake of adding a player-base to the community. With Steam, Relic could roll out a free weekend and get more players in then and they'll purchase and play with some buds after...if they meet some.

Right now, if I didn't have friends to play with, COH2 would be a pretty lonely world to play in. I think I met every person I now play COH2 with through the old chat lobby/whisper/friend request system. Those relationships are what makes playing the game worthwhile really...

People even cheat in Sonic racing games? Jeez the world is really going down the shitter.
