Look higher up in the build's output, and at the log file in your tools installation directory, to see if they give more information.

Hello there. I need some help with the modding tool. Is it possible to disable commanders and maybe give all
players the same 3 commander abillities? And I would like to change the cost of german enginiers Teller mines,
AT mines.

Hello everybody. I´ve been starting with my first mod and followed the instructions to the letter. But when I want to edit infantry I only have a fraction of the attributes showing For example all squad attributes are not listed. Does anybody know where I went wrong?

Hey, I've started on my first mod following these instructions (but editing different units and some weapons, abilities, etc.) but it won't show up in the tuning packs in the options menu. I'm pretty sure the build went correctly, so I don't think that's the issue. After a few tries, I followed these steps again but this time only modified AEF Rear echelon troops to have one extra unit in the squad, just like how this guide did to those pioneers, but that didn't show up either. Am I missing a step? Is it just Steam's fault? What's going on?

Help! Big problem encountered! I... think it's big, but while I was updating my modpack, my internet cut off so it stopped the modpack's updating. From then on, everytime I try to update my mod pack, it stops and shows the yellow triangle, along with the message "Operation failed with error code 10: Unknown failure."

Help! I fear I may not be able to update my long-worked mod pack ever D:

I tried restarting Steam, but no go, same problem.

Nevermind, it fixed itself! Just had to wait for a day. Sorry ^-^

I followed all the instructions to the letter, hit Build, and had no error messages. My mod does not show up in the mod list when creating a custom game. I can see other mods with no problem, but mine is nowhere to be found. Anyone have any ideas? My mod was very simple, creating a clone of a ranger squad with 2 more entities in the squad, just to see if everthing would work.

Check warnings.log (My Documents/My Games/Company of Heroes 2/warnings.log, open with notepad) for errors. Search for the title of your mod (Control+F) and see if you can find something like "invalid file structure". If that's the case, then you haven't followed the instructions correctly.

I did follow the instructions correctly. It turns out, the mod preview image I added was a 340KB JPEG of a helmet - the game would not load my mod with it.

Yep, the preview image has to be in .tga format. If it's not mentioned in the tutorial, I'll make sure to add it to avoid any future confusion. Thanks.

So I've made a 4man squad with two different entities. 1 Has a flamethrower, the others have MP-40s. I have an upgrade that gives 3 MP-44s (to replace the MP-40s). How do I ensure the flamethrower doesn't get overwritten?

If you don't get a better answer, see if you can do it by defining the upgrade for the entity type rather than the squad. IIRC it will still show up in the menu when you select the squad. Not sure whether that will automagically catch all three of the matching entities - you'll have to experiment and see.

Hello, sorry for the late reply.

There are two ways you could go about in doing this.

1. Make your Flamethrower a slot item with a size of 0 and give it to the squad. This will make sure that it won't ever get overwritten in place of MP40 and that it will carry over to other squad members until you do the MP-44 upgrade which will also be slot items, so everyone who dies will take their weapon with them. The squad will of course keep the weapons so once you reinforce, the members will spawn with those weapons. If you've made the flamethrower a droppable item, it will work accordingly to that.

2. The order in which you place entities in your squad loadout determines who gets a slot item first. If the flamethrower entity is below them all, it will not get the MP44s while the squad has 4 members. However the moment anyone dies, the FT will be replaced, so you probably don't want to do this in that manner.

i made a small change which worked fine then i made more changes as is all vehicles decrewable, removed the race requirement from the decrew ability, and made new crew units for both germans and the soviet.
i put the crew units as drivers of the vehicles and now i get this message after every build and the mod doesnt work, it shows up and all and the game works fine but the changes are not in the game.

so this is what i get.

It would seem you are building the mod in "curated" mode. Try selecting "release" from the menu instead before building.

thanks, i swithed to curated to see if that fixed the problem but it didnt, forgot to switch back, now i used release mode again and get this one.

Try moving your mod to a shorter filepath, e.g. c:\coh2_mods\Units and Numbers

i fixed, it, the name was too long, just gave the mod a short name and now it has no error.
