I was wondering if anyone played the pre-release patch and had experience with the OKW's Panzer 4? What are you thoughts, how fast can you get it out, and what building is it in? Any general thoughts about this vehicle would be great also.

You can build it from T4.

It's basically a vet 0 Ostheer P4 with skirts. It costs 135 fuel.

You have to gather 215 fuel to get one out so I guess it'll arrive around 12 minutes if you don't build anything else.

I find it very good. If you get it to vet 2 and above, it becomes very very potent. Vet 3 and above and you have a squad wiping machine that puts the KT and Is2 to shame.

If you tech fast and get nothing else you will get it around the 12-14 minute mark. If you buy something like aa ht, you will have it around the 14-17 minute mark.

Very very potent, keep it alive and you have something that can support your army and an eventual KT if you could get it.

So I was wondering since after the update, the OKW piv already arrived with the skirt, what is it's frontal and rear armor value and it's hp. And comparison to the ostheer one if someone else are able to provide them (I think that the coh2 stats site is still not updated. I THINK. CMIIW). I just want to switch up bulletin if I find that the 5% armor one are good. Currently using jiv as a an AT but soe variation would be nice (aka shifting to piv)

So ... anyone? please?

Potent stuff if you indeed stack up the armour bulletins. But more importantly the okw p4 unlike its ost counterpart gains scatter decrease and becomes an absolute monster to infantry at vet 4.

The irony is that the real Panzer IV had slightly worse armour than the T-34 and Sherman tanks, it just had better penetration than the T-34 (excluding the T-34/85) or Sherman.

Last time I remember armor bulletins for the P4 don't stack? Could be wrong though...

sloped 45mm is not better than flat 80. Sherman maybe had more armor. But in game the panzer4 only has 30 more armor than a t34 and only 20 more than sherman. And a whopping 10 more pen. Its the vet 2 that doesnt make too much sense, but I think its fine.

What´s the irony in this? There´s a decreased reload time bulletin for the ISU-152 - while the real ISU could fire once every minute. There´s SU-85s firing twice as fast as a Panther, with more range... A Panzer IV armor bulletin should be the least of your concerns if we are considering that aspect. :)

Only the later PIV's had 80mm on the front, the early and mid-war models had 50mm. This is modeled in game by the armor bonus Panzers get at vet 2.

45mm of armor at the T-34 60 degrees slope = 77mm effective armor. So with the later model PIV's it's pretty much equal on the front, with the T-34 having significantly better armor on its sides and rear.

But this is Company of Heroes, therefore Krupp Steel, so T-34s have notably worse armor all around even at vet 0, and the gap only widens at vet 2.

I think both Panzer 4s are fine, I'd like to see the T-34 be able to deflect shots every once in a while though

73 actually. The panzer4s in game are modeled after the 80mm so whatever the early war model was is completely irrelevant. Panzer4 had a far superior gun but only has 10 more pen so keep blowing smoke up my ass.

lol, someone is challenging the dogma of krupp steel, and you get upset

in terms of P4 vs T-34, it's actually a bit more in the T-34s favor than I thought

T-34 effective front armor at 500m

93 mm (3.7 in) effective against 7.5 cm APCBC

7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48

Pzgr. Patr. 39 KwK 40 (Armour Piercing Capped Ballistic Cap (APCBC) High Explosive round)

Like I said I think the P4s are they are are fine. As far as CoH2 goes, I always felt the P4 should have the better gun, but the T-34 should have better armor. The P4 for some reason has both, and costs more. In a game of attrition that CoH usually turns in to, the "cheap" T-34 ends up dying off easily and making them becomes inefficient very quickly

The red army does not agree with you and said the p4 to be the better tank coming. I take this information right out of the red army handbook.
