Game Length and VP Reduction in Automatch?

Love COH2, but you never know whether you're signing up for a 20 minute game or an hour long game in automatch. Since there's no breaks or pauses, it's like I have to prepare to ignore phone calls or anything else for the next hour while I play.

Does anyone else feel the same way? I know I can make a custom game, but those are such a crapshoot when it comes to skill level. Has there ever been any discussion around this?

CoH skirmishes take time.
Make sure you have it before joining one.

This would also affect the balance as a late game wouldn't come up in many times.
I am usually down to 170-200 VP when I take the upperhand against an allied player.
It's even worse if he tries to bleed my VP from the start.

If the VP would be reducted to 300, the axis, as a rather defensive faction, would suffer much more than their allied counterparts.

I always make sure I have a 2-3 hour block to dedicate to CoH2. I never start a new match if I have an hour or less time to play.

Especially if I'm not feeling competitive I make sure I have plenty of time set aside for 3v3s and 4v4s.

On average I waste through a few 5-10 minute games of leavers and afks to get a team game where everyone is actually playing.

I usually troll around in streams or live games because at least you can get your coh2 fix :foreveralone: and you can leave them on short notice without it hurting your rank or wasting other's time :foreveralone:

However having a short VP game would allow allies to play reckless and overly aggressive early game strats without fear of it backlashing into the late game like it currently does. Axis may or may not make it to their Krupp Steehl In 250 VP games.

While allies can just do some BS 5x rifle 2x AAHT or 8 cons build that will be hard to truly punish with only 250 VP.

I could be envisioning that wrong though.

you need a lot of time to commit to this game and there's really no good fix.

Permanently Banned
allied winrate would be well above 75-80% in a 250 vp game.

A 20 minute game would completely screw over OKW in 1v1. Nobody would play. If you want a 20 minute game, just play the computer.

There's nothing worse than short game.

I prefer long, even 1 hour, but exciting game rather then fast stomp.

+ what has already been told, axis usually holds 1 vp in early/mid, cause they shine in late game, so less vps would mean no late game.

For me a good game lasts 35-60 minutes. This means its a good battle between 2 equal opponents.
So i take my time for COH2.

To many things must be accomplished for a proper COH game: having time for it, no ringing phones, no dorbells, no dogs that want to jump in your arms, no guests, preferably no girlfriend/wife/kids around, and so on. In the end, you have no choice, you play it because you like it given all these.
I used to 1v1 on monday and wednessday evenings because conditions were perfect :). For the rest of game modes, well, you can play them anyway....
