One time, when I beat back a horde of Soviet infantry with a few grens and a PG, the PG squad said, "The schwine are all dead!"
CoH 2 is racist. :/

If you are going to do it, do it the right way. You should replace the words with things related to the game/community.
Anyway, chats filters are so Nanites Higby.

I think for now it's a good feature. A ton of people in this community flame and insult others ingame, which is something that should not be done. I personally love BM'ing in games at time (I grew up with DotA :p), but it has to be in good spirit and with people you know and how it's meant.

CoH2 flaming usually tends to be either racist or centered around the faction that the enemy is playing. There is a huge hostility between parts of this community. They equate playing a faction with agreeing with their political statements. This is then dragged into the game.

In order to go down to a more normal level, such a chat moderation can be good. It should be an activatable feature in the future, but for now I think having it mandatory is good.

Relic enforcement will benefit from not having waste time shifting through chat logs of reported players who just vomit verbal abuse during games.

Maybe they can focus more on catching cheaters now.

I like the filter because it encourages greater creativity in the community.

If the best insult you can come up with is "fucking fag" then you deserve to be filtered.

this. there are too many gangsta wannabes acting like e-thugs throw around n words and stuff. i think this apparently ,"ridiculous" to some, virtual nanny is a small price all of us pay to keep unwarranted racism and over the top swears.

Not talking about CoH2 here but E-sports in general. E-sports will never be a thing until gamers adopt the ideas of Fair Play and Sportsmanship.

There is badmouthing tolerated in all sports, but E-sports can't get it right. There is a difference between telling a hockey player who fell: "Hey watch it the ice is slippery!" and telling the same player "HAHA You fucking n00b you suck so bad!"

Now alot of players, especially good players gets this right. But a ton of gamers can't get it right.

Friendly banter is not calling someone names or cursing. That is just being an asshole.
So I kinda like the chat moderation things, more peope hevf to stop be mad, is only a game.

I don't want censored without a choice to turn it off, I don't mind BM in games. It is what makes online play so awesome... when someone really starts to BM when they lose is priceless.

Friendly banter =/= talking shit

friendly banter =/= sportsmanship

esports =/= sportsmanship

You're argument is so illogical it hurts. If you want sportsmanship get off the internet. This is the last place you're going to get it. If you do want be sportsmanlike that's fine but just remember where you are. Its like comparing the sportsmanlike conduct of rubgy (breaking each others faces) to F1 (sharing cocaine straws and sluts.) I'm not saying you can't be civil in rugby, but its more about violence than politics -- that is a fact. The same goes here on the internet. We all have huge e-weiners and I'm going to make damn sure you smell my huge stinky one.

I think its pretty funny, the filter seems to have the side effect of annoying the people that swear even more so that's another bonus . You cna talk smack without insulting.

I would just have prefered a function to toggle off enemy chat completely or mute individual players, but I take anything that makes the game experience a bit more pleasant! I cannot try it yet but what I read here at least sounds funny :)

Picking certain words to censor... don't like.

It's about context and meaning, not semantics. Bots can't moderate.

I'm in favor of the moderation. Players in actual esports like top SC2 get punished by their teams for racist comments. The internet needs to rise above the current flame/troll culture.

And that attitude is part of the problem
