The Kampfgruppe Wolf hoped for that to happen as it launched it's assault at a small village under the 8ths control.

Stuck holding a main road waiting for an infantry division to relieve it. The 2nd Panzer Division dug in and prepared itself for whatever may come.
Coming upon them was the 7th Armoured Division. Ready to have at it.

In an effort to more quickly push towards the Ruhr District the 1st Armoured Division was bolstered with Priority reinforcements and supplies in the hopes that would allow it to break through the lines of the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division holding a vital river crossing.

The Situation was falling apart quickly at the front. Infantry Divisions were melting infront of the advance of the british,
The 9th SS Panzer Division was scrambled to stall the british, throw them back and restore order to the front.

The Advance of the soviets had finally run out of steam. Stretched thin. Army Command saw a chance to throw them back and ordered the 3rd Panzer Division to strike. Bolstered with whatever support could be provided.

Not a lot of oKW has been played. And good OKW games are even fewer in short supply. But there are some coming in now :
Stavka had decreed that the village before the 3rd Mechanized Corps was strategically vital for the next offensive towards the fascists and had to be ceased no matter the cost !
Ample supplies and replacements were provided before the assault commenced.

They were forced to hold a vital stretch of the front as they awaited an Infantry Division to take their place. The men of the Fallschirmpanzer Division did their best to dig in and prepare.
Most of their vehicles had broken down or simply destroyed by the enemy with the remainder being held in reserve. Meaning the front line troops had little to rely on.

As the 11th Armoured Division made it's advance through the countryside Lieutenant Harrison surveyed the terrain looking out for any Germans laying in Ambush.
When he finally spotted them, it was too late. The lead vehicle was in flames and the 12th SS Assault was under way.

On the road through the Hürtgen forest the 3rd Armoured Division faced stiff resistance from the 15th Panzergrenadier Division.
Hardened veterans from Italy they did their best to stop the Americans.

At a crucial moment the british had slipped up during their latest offensive. A flank had been left exposed.
The Local command seized upon the mistake immediately calling in the 2nd Panzer Division to strike at the british and punish them for their folly !

Sergeant Reinhart considered the state of the men under his command. A mix of battle-hardened veterans and fresh recruits with who knows how little training.
But the Americans were preparing an attack and sadly they could affort little time to train them in safer environments. They would have to learn it while under fire.

The 8th Infantry Division had been making good progress the last few days. Clearing out smaller german elements dug in here and there. But today was to change as the Germans had managed to pull in a Panzer Division to show those Tommies what for !

The Panzer Lehr was on the move ! Lines shattered. Fortifications crumbled as Infantry Battalions were overwhelmed by the Panzer Assault.
Hastily shifted into the line the 1st Armoured Division had it's recovery period cut short. It's order. Halt the Panzer Lehr at any cost.
Followed up with a Propagandacast Lehr covering the British AT rifle sniper !
