The unit was just microed very poorly. You have to keep the distance because MP40s have low accuracy mid range.

Try putting a penal batallion in the car, that way it will have exellent far range damage as well as a flamer when you have to get up close.

cruzz, stop the bullshit already just cuz you cant play with the non-easy-mode soviets does not mean its underpowered so much its unplayable, i am not saying here you are bad or anything but you are overhiping the situation. you should really stop acting as a pussy as and start getting familiar with the new ballance

Agreed, if you put in a penal, they can easily wipe out Agrens or Pios. Especially since penal rifles are great at close range with the flamethrower supporting.

Well just just drove into 8 MpP40 in close range, what did you expect? Welcome to the new patch. Stay in mid range, and as soon as they approach you kite them.

But I have to say the M3 should be cheaper for its performance compared to the 221/222.

instead of whining or saying "l2p" and not much more i want to add a tip how u should approach that combat.

At first never approach pios at close range. this change was made, adapt to it. i personally like it.

After you saw both pios together u should stop instantly, m3 is going to start shooting, if one of the squads is lower health shoot at that squad.(not this situation)

Now three things can happen:
1. He starts to push you :
Micro back your M3 and stay in maximum range, ignore that CE flamer not bursting, your m3 damage output is good enough to drop some pios, stay in mid-long range and always try to face pios from the front so m3 is shooting(or from the back). You should get from that engagement without loses and pios will bleed some german manpower.
2. He starts to go back :
You can chase him but try to stay at long-mid range and be prepared that there will be reinforcements.
3. He stands still :
Shoot and see how pios drop. also be aware of reinforcement but this probably means he is not paying attention which means he is not going to be a very good player.

on the other hand m3 should get a slight discount, ican see it at 180-200 MP while you can add 2-5 fuel more.

also you dont need to garrison anything in m3 and just have it as a mobile behind the line damage dealer. Problem is that after 8-10 mins in game this unit is worthless and cost too much manpower now.

You know, germans no longer have 1.5 armor and M3 is really decent in itself as long range support, put engies with flamer for weapon team flanks and retreat kills. Works nicely for me, but it still feels extremely squishy.

did NOT played a single game with germans 1v1 since the patch but fail comment is fail :)

oh wait a played 2 games, that means +2 win streak=OP german patch not like if i had +20 win streak during the aftermath

Just wanted to clarify a few facts.

As Cruzz noted the accuracy of the Pioneers at most ranges is over 100%. However, accuracy isn't the only variable which factors into the DPS if a squad, rate of fire in this scenario is more important. The ROF at max range on a MP40 is extremely low, resulting in fairly weak DPS.

As another poster noted, most German have seen their armour reduced. The M3 used to fight infantry with 1.5 armour resulting in reduced damage output. In the current build, the M3 is 50% more effective vs Grenadiers as an example.

You don't necessarily need to garrison the M3, I find them great at flanking due to their speed and using their top gunner to deal damage to German infantry. At 5.4 armour, there is only a 18.5% chance of a shot penetrating the M3. Additionally, it can also absorb a AT gun shot now, I would definitely say it's been buffed.

m3's 50cal is a beast now. feels like one burst one kill for me.

but it still does feel too squishy seeing how it's sov's only early light vehicle and it's suppose to "maintain the role into mid-late game".

with over 20 seconds of the worst possible micro. a CE can kill a pgren if the pgren is constantly facing the wrong way so he cant shoot. would that be a valid example for saying CE are op or pgrens are UP?

and to people saying the m3 is too squishy, its a glass cannon. the last patch made it so theyre less vulnerable to 1 shotting, but more vulnerable to prolonged engagements with small arms. if that soviet player had reversed away and repaired, he wouldve won that engagement. he cost the germans mp, without losing any mp of his own. repairs are free.

but really, how powerful do you guys honestly expect the cheapest vehicle in the game to be? not to mention soviets can build as their very first unit.

Pios could do the same thing to jeeps in vCoH. Don't drive into enemy troops if you don't want your weak vehicle destroyed.

This is a familiar CoH2 refrain - unit 'X' doesn't have utility versus cost compared to similarly or more cheaply priced units.

The German AC has finally been given some love, at a commensurate price hike, maybe the M3 needs something similar.

The early CoH2 vehicles are not at all analogous with their vCoH forebears, they serve a different purpose (bearing in mind the Germans don't actually have an early light vehicle in T1).

Crap micro or no crap micro - that guy lost a lot of MP, fuel and munis to two entry-level builder units. And even parking realism aside for a moment, on a level of sheer verisimilitude, guys firing 9mm submachineguns *at an armoured car* and blowing it up?

Really?

Pios need a nerf. Even with a drive-by the damage output on that AC was disproportionate, RNG-gods or no RNG.
