Alienware Arena Cup Announced

The Company of Heroes 2 community has always been about the love. It's why tournament organizers make competitions and why players fight each other tooth and nail for the right to call themselves the champion; it is for the love of the game. "But," ask CEVO and Alienware, hosts of the Company of Heroes 2 Alienware Arena Cup, "why can't it be for the love of the game and the love of the money?"



The Alienware Arena Cup is a 1v1, double-elimination tournament and consists of two divisions, North America and Europe, with two separate prize pools: $1500 and €1750, respectively. Starting June 7 the 64 players in each division will battle it out over the next two weekends, with the Grand Finals taking place on 21 June.

COH2.ORG is disappointed to report that, due to technicalities within the rules, not every diehard COH2 nut will be able to participate. Please read the following information carefully before you sign up. From the official rules:

This ... Tournament is open only to legal residents of any state of the United States of America, the District of Columbia, residents of Mexico, and any Province of Canada (other than Quebec) that are 13 years of age or older as of May 20, 2014

This ... Tournament is open only to legal residents of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, and United Kingdom that are thirteen years of age or older, legal residents of Spain that are fourteen years of age or older, legal residents of Germany, and Norway that are fifteen years of age or older and legal residents of Sweden that are sixteen years of age or older as of May 20, 2014

Relic's own Greg Wilson, Executive Producer of Company of Heroes 2, writing Saturday 24 May in a letter to the community had this to say about the Alienware Arena Cup:

We’d like to thank Company of Heroes fans like AmiPolizeiFunk, Marco, IpKaiFung, Rogers, FatalSaint, Tommy and many more who have invested their time, effort and expertise into crafting fantastic events for the entire CoH community. Whether they were casters supporting other people’s tournaments or whether they worked hours to create and manage their own tournaments their efforts have been extraordinarily important to the series.

Realizing the importance of competitive play Relic has been working with a really fantastic partner to bring competitive players another event. This month Company of Heroes 2 is partnering with Alienware to provide a fantastic tournament offering for CoH2.

The Alienware Arena Company of Heroes 2 tournament will be a fantastic opportunity for the game’s competitive players to take to the field and fight for some great prizes, while also helping to showcase CoH2’s gameplay to a wide audience of competitive PC gamers.
