"• Guards Rifle Infantry (Doctrinal, replaces Penal) – Long-range anti-vehicle infantry. Can be upgraded with armor penetrating guns for high damage against light and medium vehicles."

I think guards are already equipped with the anti-tank guns but can be equipped with a light machine gun instead.

Good catch :) fixed:

Guards Rifle Infantry (Doctrinal, replaces Penal) – Long-range anti-vehicle infantry with armor penetrating PTRS guns for high damage against light and medium vehicles. Can be upgraded with LMG for anti-infantry capabilities.

Penal Battalions actually have the same durability as a conscript squad. They do however have better guns ( semi-automatic SVTs) and thus do more damage.

you forgot to mention that T-70 can use recon mode, disabling it's main gun but highly increasing it's sight range

I'll fix that and add in its auto-repair.

• Scout Sniper Squad – Two-man (or two-woman) sniper squad that kills in one shot at long range. Will camouflage while in cover and can pay munitions for sight of a nearby area for a short time. Useful for taking out weapon teams and supporting infantry. Very weak and must be kept safe.

The ability that grants line of sight to a nearby area is a flare which is shot into the sky and has it's own mini parachute.

Where "highly" is only +50% more. The German spotting scopes grant +100% sight range while stationary. (Robotnikthingy told me on th offical forums).

I've only played as Soviets in this game at the moment, and against AI while I get used to the different set ups. Was never a very good vCoH player tbh, but was having terrible trouble against early German light armour. Was spending a lot of res on the AT grenades, but that's a sticking plaster as opposed to a real solution. I've started building the infantry building for Guards, and rushing to get at least 1 AT gun out which I sit near my HQ so that it can be protected, then push it out slowly as I build the AT protection up. Just finished an AI match where I tried this out, and it seemed to work pretty well, almost a relaxed victory. Still only against Standard AI though :)

So - is this the right way to do things? If so, it kind of limits your commander choice initially, as 2 out of the 3 have guards.

It would be best to re-port this question to the Red Army Strategies Forum.

Righto. Thanks :)

Edit - just thinking Ami, would it be worth bracketing which Tier each building is considered to be? Just as an aide-memoire for folk (i.e. me) who aren't so involved with general strat discussion.
