Having some problems streaming CoH on my laptop. I'm running windows 7 64 bit and got CoH outside of steam. I use OBS and use game capture. CoH shows up in the options for game capture, I select it and switch to that screen then fullscreen the game, but I just get a complete blackscreen (with sound still working) much like when you got game capture on without having the game window up.

I've tried both 32 bit and 64 bit version of OBS and neither works, but Dawn of War 2 works great with just using game capture->dow2 then fullscreen, so I know that it shouldn't be a problem with my laptop...

Any ideas?

1st idea - Restart the game
2nd idea - CLose mumble/ teamspeak then start again OBS and COH

Game capture is working almost perfect, so posts like "this is the problem, cuz you use game capture" are...

true!
Nothing more and nothing less.

But he also can start and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart .... the game. That makes sense. Think that will change the world at least. Oh - and what if he uses skype?

Sorry but keep in mind he wants to stream. It didn´t work so far, right? So there is still a problem and obs still has problems.

Did it work for you in game capturing mode EFDreamerBG ? Then post your solution for him!
If not - don´t complain about posts explaining why it may doesn´t work.
I just try to help and your opinion doesn´t solve the problem.

Tried all different solutions earlier posted, none worked. (including game capture and restarting, also I dont use mumble or teamspeak while playing) It's exactly as if I stream DoW 2 and am at the desktop with game capture on. It's all black but still records all game sounds and skype sound.

Yes Aero is disabled.

Noticed that, but guessed it was a design implementation. :o

Should also note that the problem was that I had some settings on ultra, which was a bit of a cardinal sin in the eyes of the OBS (O.OBS) since dx11 isn't supported. It's all fixed now, thx EFD! ^_^

Hail to EFDreamerBG !

Thx for solving the problem in public/forum - so everyone can profit from your knowledge.

But wait - did Jenni say there is a problem with directx and obs? Let me think. Who already told that in the past?

Apparently that doesn´t matter because obs "Game capture is working almost perfect" and otherwise you get support via PM by EFDreamerBG .

And even though you said that you didn't help solving the problem at all. It was EF that mentioned that if I run ultra it'll be dx11 that OBS might have compability issues with.

Honestly it's a bit disheartening to see you be a sarcastic ass when he actually took 20 min out of his day to help out. :/

Glad you were able to solve your problems. Although it's kinda strange. Ultra settings actually mean DX10, not DX11. And OBS is build to explicitely use DX10 features for game capturing. This is why OBS doesn't run on Windows XP (which doesnt support DX10).
Anyway, guess that shows that OBS is still a Beta project with all kinds of strange bugs =)

Did you try the solution I posted? I am running the game in ultra settings. No problems at all and I am not using game capture mode.

Yeah the dx problem. I mentioned that. Not worth discussing that any more, right.

the only thing that makes me a sarcastic ass is this quote:

Because there are known issues. He shouldn´t have said that. And to be honest, obs is still not doing what you want it to do.

Maybe I am too old for that but I think a forum is for all. So if you post some issues they should be solved in public. Everybody should profit from knowledge. I personally don´t like this "ask me via PM and i will help you because I am the man" - attitude.

Anyway I am also glad your problem is solved. Enjoy streaming.

(And please keep in mind I also wanted to help - I don´t want to offend anyone. My sarcastic behaviourism results just from EF´s post mentioned above. I think that is understandable)

Does anyone have an issue with OBS that when you play CoH, the viewers can not see your mouse cursor?

I have the option for capture mouse cursor ON ticked, however it doesn't seem to do the job. Tried it unticked to see if it was maybe a misinterpretation but still no good results. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I used to have the same issue like Jenni (Blackscreen stream), and lowering details helps me too. I'd try many settings, and only one option can't be on ultra- Shader Quality (max High). With this settings OBS finally runs fine.

I had also issue, with mouse cursor, which didn't show in stream of the game, and helps me newer (testing) version of OBS (v. 0.48.003b).

Hope it will be usefull.

Sry for my english.

one small note.. since a couple of months there is another easy way to stream to Twitch.tv; via EA Origin client. Now most will have COH on steam, so all you have to do is add steam to the launch list in origin and enable origin ingame and the streaming, to stream with any steam game.

linking Origin to Twitch is not very hard and it does stream in nice quality as well. i'll try to put a small guide together if i have time (not before next week :( )
